Elsie Eltzroth mrs. A As she is known the wife of air Force . M. S. Elzy Eltzroth at Ramstein air base says her love of the great outdoors started with an interest in camping and canoeing clubs Back i High school in Ohio. The Eltzroth now on their third tour of Duy in Germany Are both avid Hunt he r barbecued Young boar i rated excellent by her husband. Ers who Hunt together and separately said mrs.  The attractive Mother of three started Hunting in 1950 with a borrowed gun. After several weeks of failure she Gother own Rifle the one she still uses and the one that has brought her 13 Roe Buck trophies 11 wild boar three Stags one Whitetail Deer and a Chamois which was shot from 275 Yards. On her first Hunt with her new Rifle she got two wild boar out of four that charged  decided a Long time ago that i might As Well carry my own gun an lunch on a Hunt rather than just go along for fun said mrs.  1958, on their first tour of duty in Germany mrs. got enough bad Bucks plus a crippled abnormal Gold medal Hirsch to win the coveted Hege a Schuss conservation award from the Wiesbaden Rod and gun  1965, mrs. E., a graduate of Ohio University and a Par time school teacher won a Silver medal and Silver plaque at the Rhein main Rod and gun club for shooting an outstanding a Schuss undesired be stiletto antlered  shooting in the . Has been mainly in Fields and along Duck streams or Ponds in Fairfax county near fort Belvoir a. Mrs. became interested in skeet shooting and purchased u 20-Guuge Auto Matic in 1967, she was runner up in class Competition at fort Belvoir just before coming to Ramstein last june."1 thoroughly enjoy skeet shooting year round because it keeps me in prac Tice she says. A would like to be Able to shoot one afternoon a week and one Day on the  also feels that when a husband is away As much As mine is it s goo to have an interest in the outdoors and in  to be a Good Hunter she notes a woman must have a lot of free Tim and no worries. Above All she must have no fear of guns. Personally i can see no reason for any woman to be afraid of guns she adds. As far As mrs. or the Jaeger Eisterer foresters she Hunts with knows she is the Only american female Hunter presently in Germany. I be been told though that there were a couple of american women Hunt ers Here three or four years Back say mrs. E., adding that Fores Meister s wives Are somewhat surprised to know m a Hunter and even More surprised when i bring Home the  the Youthful looking Hunter says the most exciting part of a Hunt in Germany is being Able to outdo a Fores t is photos by Jim Cole or by telling him there s some animal out there. Hunting is an Early rising and some times hard sport she continues but it s a bit easier Here than in the states where it takes much More time to scout an area and plan a  Germany the Jaegers and the Fores meisters Are always with Yon to help. They try their Best to give you a Good  love of Hunting and the out doors has taken mrs. on Hunts in pour ing rain driving wind and Snow and even on sleighs Over Snow covered mountains. She rates wild Turkey As the mos interesting game to Hunt. You have to outwit them. You camouflage yourself As Best Youcan. The main objective is of course to Call the wild Turkey to you and get Himin your shooting Range before he sees  mrs. E., who started Hunting in 1950, shows Antlers mounted As a trophy. Mrs. feels Hunting Turkey is similar to Hunting Auerhahn a highly prize trophy Bird of the Alps. She feels the hardest animal to Hunt in Europe is the Chamois a Mountain Goat Antelop that lives High above the umber line. To Hunt this Goat you must walk for what seems like hours to get up to a Hunting Cabin. And you must carry enough food and equipment for an Over night trip. That in itself requires great physical endurance. On our Chamois Hunt when we were Here in 1958, we took enough provisions for five Days and boy were  both she and her husband got their Chamois despite having to carry the heavy packs of provisions. According to her husband  prepares excellent meals from the boar red Deer or Roebuck she brings Home. People who have never tasted wild oar or Venison before become imme Diate fans of it and everyone rates h barbecued Young boar As excellent " he says. I fix it with a sour Cream Gravy that brings out its full flavor she says. The three Eltzroth children Bruce in the Navy at Idaho palls Idaho under going training with the atomic Energy commission and Karen and Roberta All have fired Small bore guns and love the outdoors according to their Mother. This has been a great Hunting Yea for me said mrs. E., adding every mrs. with her .270-caliber Sporter which has brought her game by the  see no reason for any woman to be afraid of guns9thing i be seen and had permission to shoot i be brought Home five for  she did however Tell of one afternoon of Dove Hunting that was t quite us  re allowed 12 Dove per Day. Well in my first nine shots j killed seven. Then it took a Box of shells to get the next four for a total of 11  i never did get my twelfth one. No i won t Tell you How Many More shells 2  the colonel and i wife also have participated in Crow Hunt at ram Stein. He jokingly notes this has Bee my Best year for Crow
