Begun in 1955 since to Csc refugee students find it difficult to Complete their studies at the free University despite a Grant of 150 Marks per month Given them by the City of Berlin the scholarships provided by the american women s club Are very helpful. Started in 1955, the plan developed from a desire by Mem Bers to put their efforts behind single Large project rather than spread their efforts among a number of smaller welfare activities. Accordingly the plan was begun with the stipulation that half of lie Money awarded a student would be considered a Grant while he balance would be repaid to the fund without interest. Money repaid is used Ina revolving fund for granting More scholarships in future years. Now in its third year the plan had 18 applicants initially and38 the second interviewed carefully actual administration of the fund rests with the St Denten Werk an office run by faculty members of the University to look after tie physical financial and social welfare of the students. Students applying for a scholarship must be recommended by two professors furnish a curriculum plan and report on their studies and outline their plans for Post graduate years.
