Those words have been ringing in the ears of High school track and Field fans around upper Heyford England All Spring and now they Are bouncing off the Walls of our stars and stripes sports office in Darmstadt Germany. Seven members of the is sports staff went to the polls this weekend voted in this newspaper s fourth annual us Desea athlete of the year Competition. There were 16 names on the ballot and each writer voted for five ranking them in order. After All voters had placed their picks in sealed envelopes we opened them up an awarded Points on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis. Latimer totalled 27 Points to become the stars and stripes High school athlete of the year for the 1967 68 school year. As expected the voting was extremely Clos with Frankfurt s Bernie Smith finishing two Points Back Andrud Wissburg s Pat Twomey three Points behind. Munich s Bruc Dickinson was fourth and Seville s Art Uresti was  marked the second straight year that the Winner has come from a class b Small school. Fred Cheeks of  was honoured last Spring the other athletes of the year were Madrid s Bob Lueke in 1955-56 and Frankfurt s Terr Brennan in 1954-55. Cheeks is at tending Virginia Union univer sity Lueke is going to. School at Rutgers and Brennan will soon be entering his senior year at Auburn. All three previous is winners received athletic , an . The speedy halfback he won the Uso Esea 100 meters title in 10.9 scored nine touchdowns in six games. One of his ads came on a50-Yard run that beat Lakenheath a class a school14-7. In basketball the 5-9, 150-Pounder was the upper Heyford Leader on the floor and averaged 15.9 Points per Gime. He averaged 20 Points per game in the us Desea class b meet and was named tothe All tourney team. Like Latimer Smith and Twomey were both three sport stand outs.
