Maybe the joint German american sponsorship and the reconstructed new Orleans French Quarter buildings digit maybe it was a result of that Ger Man american cooperation being set Ina City that depends on cooperation. Whatever the reason the spirit at the eighth Berlin German american Volks fest new Orleans was loud and  a visitor walked in the front Gate he heard the sounds and saw the sights of jazz City. Several Dixieland bands could be heard playing at the sometime. Filtering through this jazz screen came the beat of an occasional Rock band the bavarian music of the Beer tents and the mixed tunes played Over the loudspeakers of the rides and galleries behind the French Quarter  jazz museum two galleries of new Orleans paintings and sculpture a Mississippi riverboat a huge dining Hall and a Post office were the mainstays of this Little town specially built on the Dahlem american spoils Field. Behind it and seemingly in Sharp contrast were the fest rides but the two affair fit together hand in Glove As the inter National flow of visitors moved from Oneto the other. This year a Monument to the 250thanniversary of the Crescent City s found ing As a French Colony on the Mississippi the annual Volk fest has become in its eight year history the largest Community relations project of its kind staged by the . Army in  summer it Drew nearly half a Mil lion  year it is expected to attract even greater crowds before it closes on aug. 11. It. Col. Thomas c. Clary Berlin Bri Gade adjutant was fest director for that program As Well As this one. He was aided by a staff from the City of Berlin As Well As hundreds of German an american volunteers. This is the first of the annual gala personally attended by a state s governor. Louisiana gov. John j. Mckeithen came along with new Orleans mayor Victor 11.
