Red Cross volunteers teens prove Good Medicine by Steve Gibson staff writer take 60 teen agers add a Little spirit from a 25-year-old blonde mix in a Little american red Cross training and you begot lots of Good Medicine that works 500 hours a week and does t Cost taxpayers dime. This formula for Hospital Success was used in 12 . Military hospitals in Europe last year when 230 budding Flor ence nightingales and their male counterparts donned the Blue and a h i t a striped uniforms of the american red Cross youth  year in six of the largest armed forces hospitals in Gei Many a total of253 Young adults Are working in jobs that Are necessary and vital to smooth running hospitals according to the american red Cross european head quarters in Stuttgart. Medical service corps capt. Robertg. Robert is one of seven Young me who spend at least one Day a week get Ting medical experience while helping others. He does some routine work like Labelling test tubes but he also works inthe blood Bank greets patients and helps lost people find their destinations. I also get to watch medical people use the Microscope. I like that because i m interested in looking at disease such As tape worm and malaria Rob Ert explained. He mentioned those two because they Are the ones he has seen so far this summer. Libby King 16, a senior at Stuttgart High likes to help people. I m planning on being an adult Redcross worker next year after i graduate Libby said. Then i la continue Roget practical experience at the same time i m taking College courses fr6mthe University of Maryland in preparation for registered nurse training in the United states. Libby works in the recovery room and aids the patients As they come out from under anaesthesia following  Youthful smile also helps cheer up the Ward  Silbey also a senior at Stutt Gart High wears the Cap and pin of second year Volunteer. She has her heart set on becoming an operating room nurse after graduation. Maj. Sarah e. A very operating room supervisor encourages All the Volun Teers but gives a Little extra attention to Lucia because of her keen interest. We let her and some of the other volunteers into the operating room occasionally. In just the Short time Phyllis has been working at the Hospital her father and i have noticed she has matured and she certainly appreciates her Good health a lot  Mary Neth Lucia s work includes getting articles ready for bedside use. This spirited blonde also schedules the9-hour-a-week workload for the youth. I really had a different opinion about today s kids i mean with All the pro testing Goin on said mrs. Lyons. But after working with these 60 kids who Are proving themselves so responsible my attitude about youth is really changing. These kids really care. They Are interested in human needs and helping people she continued.
