European Stars And Stripes (Newspaper) - April 29, 1986, Darmstadt, Hesse Tuesday april 29, 1986 the stars and stripes Arm Landers Page 11 letters dear Ann Landers i be asked this question of friends relatives and salespeople but no one can come up with a suitable answer. Can you Why is it of to go into a department store and try on Sev eral bathing suits that have been tried on by half a dozen women before me buy one and take it Home and yet it s not of for me to take it Back if i decide i Don t like it my husband can go into the same store buy several bathing trunks take them Home try them on decide he does t want any of them and get a refund with no hassle. In this Day and age when people Are scared to death of aids should t it be the other Way around also Don t you think it s weird that ear rings can t be returned but shoes can i be heard of Many foot diseases but no earlobe diseases. Can you explain this nonsense Tome wigged out in Boca Raton dear Boca policies vary from store to store and state to state. For example a spokesperson from Neiman Marcus said it is the policy of our stores not to permit the return of swim Wear after it has been taken Home. In the store customers May try on swim Wear Only under the supervision of a sales per Saks fifth Avenue said our customers Are free to return any merchandise they Are not Happy with. This includes jewelry and swim Montgomery Ward satisfaction is guaranteed on All merchandise. We do however abide All state and local health regulations. They vary from place to Sears Roebuck our motto is satisfaction guaranteed or your Money Back. Under Normal circumstances we do permit customers to return jewelry and swim so dear wigged out if you Don t like the policy of the store you Are dealing with maybe you d be Wise to take your business elsewhere. Dear Ann Landers my problem involves my husband s sex wife. She is always calling on the phone to say she needs to talk to my husband. I Dis like these intrusions and she knows it. When i ask my husband what she was Call ing about he always says it had to do with their son age 7. I be asked my husband Why he does t invite me to listen in on the Calls. He tells me his sex thinks those matters should be private. I feel if she has something to say that she does t want me to hear it should not be said at All. I feel she uses the boy to keep a string on my husband and it makes me mad. I also suspect that he in t my husband s child. They look absolutely Noth ing alike nor do they have any traits in common. I have a hard enough time trying to accept my new Stepson because of a Little jealousy much less having to put up with this Pushy Broad. I d appreciate any advice you can give me because i am fixing to kill in Seattle dear fixing i suggest that you clean up your act and be civil to the sex wife and find something about that boy to Admire. The failure of at least 75 percent of All second marriages is linked to children his or hers. So get smart or you too will be an sex wife. We do not read unsigned letters but we will withhold your name on request and protect your privacy. A letters Are subject to editing. To those having bedroom allowance complaints the two letters printed about bedroom allowances on base prompted me to write. We Are a family of six and i would gladly Trade my off base four bedroom econ omy Home for one of the writers three bed room Homes. The number of bedrooms i have would be the least of my worries. Since moving into this Home we have had 1. Almost a $200 rent increase because of the depreciating Dollar. 2. Since november 1985 we have Pur chased Oil almost every two weeks for this Home because it like most German older Homes is not insulated. 3. Two weeks with no heat because the Furnace quit and the parts had to be or dered. We All piled into one room with our kerosene Heater. No one really complained. 4. Busted water pipes that flooded our Home while we were away for a few hours. 5. Our children s bedrooms Are upstairs. This House never gets warm upstairs be cause of no insulation. We have never heard our children complain about this fact. I would be very willing to Trade for a three bedroom on base apartment any Day. My kids can sleep two to a room. I see nothing wrong with that. Neither do my children. I know because they have slept three to a room with no complaints. A few years ago i was in the same Situa Tion As one of the writers. I had a Newborn. A 1-year-old, and two older children. I also had a three bedroom House. The bedrooms were not Large. Because the Newborn was not sleeping through the night i decided to put my 1 year old in with the two other children. My two oldest of course had to make some sacrifices and adjustments because of the age of their new Roommate but they did it without too Many complaints. Actually when the time came to move the 1-year-old Back to his room they asked to let him stay we As adults must teach our children that sacrifices must be made at some time in our lives. We can do this with our own actions and deeds. If they hear us complain All the time of course they will do it too. Before we came Over Here we received material about our base and Germany it he says teachers failing students the pressure was so great in one of my classes that a lady student had been crying unable to understand the material presented by the teacher. Educators should tailor teaching to the students level. What Good does it do to give a student a a was extra time taken to help him her who needed help or does the d stand for stupidity i thought it was the teacher s Job to ensure that the students Learned the material that was presented to them. I m not a Well educated or quiet person but i m very ambitious. When you re uneducated and ambitious As i am you tend to find yourself by yourself sometimes. I recently dropped out of two College courses because i was having a hard time making it through the classes. I would rather drop out and pay the school for the courses than fail the classes and be restricted from taking any More courses because of poor grades. I did not want to drop out. I tried to explain to my teachers the difficulties i was experiencing and ask for help. The response i received was hire a Tutor "1 Don t have time because i m teaching other classes or talk with the Counselor at the education offices and see if they can help after explaining my difficulties to several people at the education Center it was either just stay in the class and try to make it through and at the end of the course critique the teacher along with everybody else or drop out of class if you feel you can t pass. I m going to continue to be lost in space unless those who Are tasked to educate me do so by spending that extra time with me. I have the right to receive a Good education demand it Steve Duron location withheld writer cites cafes advantage one More cafes is. Mar audio photo store letter please. Without Debat ing pricing or selection there is one area where buying from cafes has an advantage Over buying from the audio photo store. That area is their respective Mer Chandise return policies. Every Patron should be aware of these policies prior to making a major Purchase. Audio photo has a rather limited return policy and will accept Only defective Mer Chandise for repair replacement under warranty. Cafes on the other hand has a very Liberal no questions asked Money Back return policy in addition to warranty repair. This policy adds items to the Dis counted red tag selection of repaired or no Box accessories equipment at extra Low prices. But in the there s no free lunch department this customer satisfaction policy no doubt also results in slightly higher Overall prices to offset these losses. Name withheld Kapaun As Germany they Praise Chain of command it is not too often that i read about a Chain of command As Good As mine. My wife and i were expecting a child. As the due Date approached i became More and More nervous and excited about bring ing a child into the world. As it was my troop was serving concur rent Border Tours to include gunnery during the second tour. We were Short on manpower but nevertheless my Chain of command did t say How can we do it they said we will do i was attached to the rear detail element in order to be near my wife when the baby finally came. Father Selga St. Davao City 9501 Philippines self. I also did extra Reading about the country. In several of the pamphlets we received they All stated that housing would be limited expensive and Small. They also said that storage space was almost nil. Taking these things into consideration we brought Only necessities. My older Chil Dren could do without their television set and some of their stereo equipment. I also noticed the jealousy involved with the feeling of the second letter writer. Things like the officers have five bed rooms and Only two children. We have always known that ship rank Lias its privileges has existed in our armed forces and our society since the beginning of time. Am 1 to complain that i must Park a mile away from the base Exchange while the generals have reserved parking spaces or that i must Fly commercial and the president has his own private Jet i noticed while working for a civilian company in the states that i lived in the same neighbourhood As one of the top Man agers of our company. He had one child and a House twice the sic of mine. Maybe i should have complained to the president of the company. After All i had worked there almost As Many years As this Man had. I would die of a headache just thinking of All the things i have to be jealous about. Please you can still move off base into Economy housing with As Many bedrooms As you want. Try it you probably won t like it. Name and location withheld the St is 5 european edition capt Dale k. Patterson us editor in chief cmdr Jeffrey s. Zakem us Deputy editor in chief . Blackwell m.
