The weather was Damp and fog was holding visibility to about 100 meters. T waited for an hour without seeing anything so had plenty of Lime to dream about die past 20 years which have been filled with outdoor experiences. Things happened rather suddenly after my wife and i were first married. I was off to Vietnam within a few months and soon found myself in Khe san with the 2fith marines during he tet offensive of 1968. That was definitely one outdoor situation 1hope to never repeat. Bui soon after Vietnam things began 10 get took a trip to Vail colo., in late 1969 and teamed How to ski. We loved the sport and never forgot the advice of instructor Denny Hoeger that the most important thing to do when skiing is have fun. We took up fishing together in 1970. Oklahoma provided the memorable Opportunity to fish for Sand Bass one weekend at Lake Murray until three in the morning. Well never forget our a Yea Road daughter Yelling papi help when the first big fish nearly yanked the pole from her hand after one More tour in Vietnam we came to Ger Many and went on our first family vol Smarch near Heidelberg in 1973. We continued skiing did some ice skating and yes got into Hunting. There were years of almost total immersion in skiing and Hunting. We skied in Austria and Switzerland and a Lime or two again to Colorado where we Learned Denny Hoeger had be come president Ford s instructor. There were drive Hunts in Germany with great parties afterwards my parents visited Germany and we took them to a party Are a pheasant Hunt South of Regensburg. In 1977 we decided to begin our thanksgiving Day Celebration with an Early morning outdoor adventure to watch the Sunrise with our two High Point of our one hour excursion that morn ing in Oklahoma was an encounter with two White Tail Deer. They stared at us from about so meters. Then departed. This seemed a special sign for us an reminder of the purpose of our thanksgiving holi Day. We be taken a family walk through Fields and along country roads on Many thanksgiving morn Ings since and have always seen Deer rabbits or other wild game. The two times we went Hunting in Scotland for red Deer Stag will always be remembered by thoughts of the ram wind and never ending blankets of Heather that covered he Highlands. The Slone collages we stayed in were a bit Primativo but comfortable and they added to the Tun of Hunting and getting to know Scotland my wife did t go with me on the Hunts for Cha Mois and Stag in the Gentian Alps. Bui i remember giving her daily accounts by phone of How the Hunt were going. Part of the fun of Hunting is telling your Best Friend All about it. The most recent activity we be enjoyed is Moun Tain hiking. We be hiked to the top of several peaks in Germany and Switzerland. And last summer we did our first Mountain Over 4,000 meters. As the fog lifted last saturday i began 10 focus Back on the immediate Hunting situations As i heard a Deer in the Thicket to my left. Eventually i had Success. I Field dressed the Deer and secured to in my Rucksack. Just before starting the walk Down the Forest Trail paused for a few More comforting reflections.
