And the leading masters skier had a clocking that would have placed second in the open  s Steve Palm who won saturday s 12-Kilometer distance race showed that he can sprint too. He came Back later to erase a minute deficit in the 10-Kilometer relay and pro vide Anchor Suzy Wolf a 48-second advantage which she maintained As Wiesbaden no. Theother women were far behind. Palm was racing in his third Safe meet. In 1986, he won the seniors Dis Tance race and finished second in the sprint. This year he was in a class by himself. He was raised in Minnesota and was a distance runner at South Dakota state. Bill Muhr who finished third in the masters spent and Paul Cackovich skied the first two legs on the relay but they fell behind All stars Baird and Booker in the relay to set the stage forthe Palm comeback heroics.
