If we have to enrol our child in school Here then with draw her five to six week later enrol her in another school while we Are visiting our other iwo children for three weeks then withdraw her from thai school after Only three weeks and enrol her in a third school at our next duty station she will have to attend three differ ent to Boob in the first Quarter of this school year. Is it asking so much of the army to let us go four to six weeks earlier than we would originally be leaving anyway docs the army not consider the adjustment that a child has to make when transferring schools hard enough without having to do it three times in less than 10 weeks what happened la caring about the Soldier and his family my husband is considering other options of getting us Back to the United states before sept. I which is either pay our Way Back himself or try to catch a space a flight. But again we run into problems. Since we arc Cav ing Germany we would like to Clear our quarters so As no to keep losing our bad far quarters thai arc Unin habited and also to enable he next people on the list to sign for quarters sooner. Now we find out that since we won t have orders to leave the country transportation will not even come pack up our household goods not even to put them in storage. It seems that you can t do anything without orders. Since my husband is Rrt authorized to stay in quarters for More than 30 Days after departure of his family members front the country what is he supposed to do with 2,500 pounds of household Good when he moves Back into the Barracks we Ait not asking to be sent Home Halfway through our command sponsorship just four to six weeks earlier than we would probably have to be leaving Here anyway. Soldier wants fewer Billet inspections As you sit in your billets room or correction cell which measures 16 feel by 16 feel you wonder who will be in the nest Parade of people through your room. There is hardly a Day that passes that someone docs not inspect the room to ensure it meets the highest standards. 1 realize that for sanitary and Basic cleanliness the Billet rooms need to be neat and orderly. This is a Basic human necessity or Stan Dard of decent living and should be adhered to. But to have someone constantly walk through your living quarters inspecting for minute discrepancies is ridiculous. The individuals responsible for this arc usually those who live off Post in government quarters or on the econ omy. Before people write in that they live in the billets and inspect regularly let me re emphasize that most of the inspecting soldiers live outside the billets. They Are mainly e-7 to e-9 and 0-3 to 0-6. I am sure they do not have anyone inspecting their quarters on a regular basis other than maybe a maintenance team coming through. They Check for maintenance not cleanliness. I would bet thai if they were inspected regularly you would hear a cry All the Way to Washington. These rooms Are inspected on double Stan Dards. Evidently what is Good for the Goose is not Good for the Gander. For example those in quarters can decorate to their liking whereas the billets personnel decorate to the army s idea of proper decorum. Who determines Deco Nim is definitely not up to the Soldier living i n the billets. Another reality is the crowding of four soldiers into one room which allows the Soldier about 10 feet by 10 feet of living space. These Are usually e-4s and below but e-5s and above arc subject to this. Now let s Lake an o-1.
