Donovan put the pressure on Schaffer with a Fine 9 Iron about five feet from the pin on the Par 3 15thhole. Schaffer was on the fringe with about a 12-footer to the Hole. He missed by a couple of inches but so did Donovan and it was on to 16. Again Donovan applied the pressure hitting the Green on the Par 5 in two for an Eagle putt of about 40feet. Schaffer got on in three and got a routine Par. Donovan three putted missing another four footer. Both paired 17 to set the stage for the finishing excitement. Each had a Good drive. Donovan pulled his second shot slightly and was in the fringe rough just off the Green. But he was nearer than Schaffer who was on the Green but about 40 feet from the pin. Schaffer putted first and went five feet past the pin. Donovan bladed his Chip shot slightly but still got inside of Schaffer. The rest is history. I missed a couple of key putts Donovan  i made several Long putts when i needed them. It was an up and Down game. Considering the slow play i guess i did All  the masters and women began play on the 1 oth tee at 8 ., an hour before the open division player were scheduled to begin. The open division got started a Little later than the scheduled 9  Tee Tim because some non tournament players were permitted to tee off immediately in front of them. So when the beginning masters group got around to the first tee things were pretty Well stacked up result ing in up to an hour s  we tried to Tell the tournament officials yesterday that there would be a big Holdup on the first tee if both groups did t Start at the same time setae s How Ard Magwood said. Rick Serrano hit a single double an triple in four trips for the rangers. Mainz de g9nzales 2-2 went All the Way giving up six hits fanning nine and allowing five walks. Merced went the Dis Tance for Giessen giving up All 14 runs. He also hit a Solo Homer. Stuttgart 5-1-8, numbers 3-6-9 Nurnberg West Germany in Atrio of seven inning contests the Stuttgart Blue sox beat Nurnberg in the opener hut the pirates came Back to Triumph 6-1 and 9-8 to wrap up the Southern division title. In game two the pirates Eddie Michaels 3-1 fanned 10 in pitching a five hitter. John Ries hit a two run double inthe first and an rib single in the second. In the rubber game Bierschenk hit game winning three run Homer in the seventh. Ries 6-2 pitched a Complete game and had three hits
