Ron Anderson scored eight of 25 Points Dur ing a 17-5 run at the Start of the fourth Quarter As the Philadelphia 76ers Over came the absence of Charles Barkley and Defeated the new Jersey nets 123-105saturday night. The Victory was the third straight and eighth in 11 games for the 76ers, who Learned earlier in the Day they would be without their leading scorer and re Bounder. Barkley suffered a sprained right ankle on Friday night in the final two minutes of a 113-112 win Over Golden state. The ankle was placed in a cast saturday and Barkley might return tuesday. The 76ers stayed close throughout sat urday s game never trailing by More than five Points before the fourth Quarter when the nets were 7-for-23 from Thefield. Against the nets the 76ers needed neither Barkley nor guard Maurice Cheeks who was sidelined earlier in the week. Roy Hinson had 21 Points and 11 re Bounds to Lead new Jersey. Jazz 127, kicks 104 Salt Lake City Karl Malone scored 17 of his 41 Points in the third Quarter leading Utah to an easy Victory Over the new York kicks who suffered their worst loss of the season. Warriors 114, pacers 112 Indianapolis minute Bol hit a 21-foot jumper with 35 seconds to g9, breaking the game s Lith tie and Chris Mullin scored 31 Points As Golden state Aba Roundup beat Indiana. The Lead changed hands 26 times be fore the warriors snapped their three game losing skein which followed an eight game winning Streak. Rockets 96, spurs 91 san Antonio Eric sleepy Floyd scored 22 Points and Akeem Ola Juwon had 20 Points and 17 rebounds As the Midwest division leading Houston rockets held off a late rally to beat Sanantonio. Houston leading by As Many As 20 Points in the first half let the Lead slip away in the third Quarter but managed to hold off a second half rally by the spurs. San Antonio was led by Vernon Max Well with 23 Points and Greg Anderso with 21. Leading 92-91 with 1 09 left the rockets pulled away on two free throws by Otis Thorpe. After the spurs Jay Vin cent was whistled for an offensive foul Olajuwon grabbed a rebound and san the final bucket. Trail blazers 110, Hawks 94 Portland Ore. Clyde Drexler had 31 Points and 12 rebounds while Kiki Vandeweghe and Kevin Duckworth scored important baskets in the fourth Quarter leading Portland Over Atlanta snapping a five game losing Streak by the Trail blazers. The Trail blazers who lost their four previous games at Home outscored at Lanta 18-8 Early in the fourth period Tak ing a 92-82 Lead after the Hawks tied the score 74-74. Vandeweghe had five of his 13 fourth Quarter Points during the spurt and Duckworth added six. Vandeweghe and Duckworth both finished with 16 Points. Dominique Wilkins led Atlanta with 30 Points and helped the Hawks grab a 48-46 Lead with 17 first half Points. Moses Malone added 21 Points for at Lanta. With the game tied 52-52 Early in the third period the Trail blazers scored 17 of the next 26 Points including 10 by Drexler who had 15 in the Quarter. The Hawks closed the Gap 74-71 at the end of the period and then tied it in the first minute of the fourth Quarter before port land pulled away. The Hawks got no closer than seven Points after Portland took its 92-82 Lead. Two free throws by Wilkins made it 98 91 with 3 16 left but the Trail blazers scored the next six Points to Clinch the Victory. Bucks 105, clippers 84 los Angeles Jay Humphries scored a season High 24 Points and Terry Cummings added 21 As Milwaukee handed the los Angeles clippers their 14th straight loss. Reserve Forward Fred Roberts added a season High 16 Points for the Bucks who never trailed in route to their sixth straight win Over the clippers and fourth consecutive Victory Overall. Quintin Dailey scored 28 Points for 76ers Hersey Hawkins. Scores against nets the clippers who have dropped three straight since Don Casey replaced Gene Shue As head coach on Jan. 19. I wanted to  Huber who finished sixth in the 3,000 at Seoul held fourth place for most of the first mile behind Pica Lisa Breid ing of Kentucky and Joan Nesbit of North Carolina. She moved into the Lead when Pica s Pace slowed and widened her Lead to win by 15 seconds Over Breid ing. Pica faded to third. Pica appeared weak and fatigued after the race. Lewis wins 57th straight Houston a Carl Lewis won his 57th straight Long jump Competition saturday night with a leap of 26 feet 9 inches in the Houston chronicle indoor games. Lewis the world record Holder at 28 10 /4, beat Houston Junior Leroy Burrell who jumped 26-6 /4. Mecir bidding for his first grand slam title broke Back at love to make it 5-2 but could t hold his serve in the next game and lost the set. Lendl took control of the third set with a 3-0 Lead. Mecir won the next two games but then Lendl shrugged off a time violation warning for serving slowly and won the last three games for the title.
