Declines led advances 1,150-698 among the 2,160 issues traded. Big Board volume was 886,478,190 shares compared with 798,813,200 the previous week and 875,793,460 year ago. Prices took their worst beating in 11 months Friday after the government said the february producer Price Index shot up 1 percent earlier in the week however investors were encouraged by reports on retail sales Industrial production and housing starts which suggested some moderation in economic growth and an casing of inflationary pres sures.
