The poll also found that less than half or 41 percent of the nation s workers find themselves on a career or Job path they had planned. The rest go their jobs due to Chance were influenced by family or friends or too the Only Job they could find. The Survey of 1.350 people was con ducted for the National occupational in formation coordinating committee a panel Congress created to make better us of Job information. The poll which asked a variety of Job related questions had margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent age Points. Other findings showed nearly one third of the work Force expects to change jobs within the next three Yea Sand that 65 percent said that Given a Chance to Start Over they would see More information about career options. Of employed adults who responded 25percent said Job stress or pressure had interfered with their off the Job relation ships. 20 percent said it had affected their physical health and 20 percent said it had affected their ability to do their Job. But responding to the same question,48 percent reported Little or no Job stress Over the past year. The totals exceeded 100 percent because of multiple responses. Sharon Dannan research director at the National association of working women said More americans Are probably suffering from Job related stress than will admit it. There s lots of people who probably Don t realize that s what it is that their Job is full of interruptions or that they have multiple Bosses telling them it s priority work and that it s driving them nuts she said. The poll showed that 41 percent of the employed respondents consciously chose their career paths 18 percent got started through Chance circumstances 12 percent took the Only Job available with the res influenced by either friends or relatives.
