Times Beach about 20 Miles Southwest of St. Louis made headlines reveil years ago when health officials discovered that dioxin in waste Oil had been sprayed on the towns streets. The Federal government bought out the town a 801 Homes and businesses a in 1983 and began trying to figure out How to clean up the contaminated streets. Syntax which was not the producer of the dioxin became involved in the settlement because it leased a Plant owned by one of its subsidiaries to a company that produced the dioxin As a byproduct in making a disinfectant. The company declined to say How much it expects to spend on the cleanup.
