Id like to begin with a question if neither Iraq nor Kuwait held any economic importance on the world scene no Oil or Money just Sand would we be there today if you answer yes then you believe that people should die to defend a monarchy and Sand dunes. If you said no then you realize that Oil and Money Are the reasons for such a huge response. If these countries had no Oil would we have defense treaties with them lets see there is a country in Africa called Monrovia. It is currently being overrun by rebel forces. The marines were called in to evacuate americans but since Monrovia has Little or nothing to offer economically the marines Are gone. We have a pledge to a make the world Safe for i guess we could also add to that pledge to a make the world Safe for inexpensive wont it be a proud moment when years from now a Mother looks admiringly up at a service station sign displaying Gas at 90 cents a gallon and looks to her 8-year-old son and says a Johnny your father gave his life so we could fill i recently stayed at the general Patton hotel in Gar Misch and As usual took along a ton of Luggage being the absent minded sort As of late i left a Case with some most treasured but not very valuable jewelry in my room. Up so gee mom the world has spent the last 50 years arming the Middle East to the Teeth. Now it seems that they have decided to play with some of the toys they bought. Gosh they re not supposed to use those things just pay for them if this crisis does no to make it Clear that we need to Stop relying on Oil then i guess we will never learn. When the United states invaded Panama a Small poor third world dictatorship there was no world condemnation. But when Iraq invaded Kuwait a Small Oil producing very Rich dictatorship the world had a very Large cow clearly we can see some serious hypocrisy taking place. We seem to have made a Choice that instead of paying $2 a gallon for Gas wed rather lose a few thousand Young men and women. I personally would pay any Price for Gas or walk to keep one person from dying. Its time we Start concentrating on the Home front. We have enough people dying at Home from poverty drugs and murder. The last thing we need is men and women dying in the desert defending Gas and dying from it at the same time. A Tom caviar in Ciurlik Turkey lost jewelry. I just wanted to express my thanks to the staff at the general Patton for returning my jewelry and for providing me with a very pleasant stay. To those of you who Haven to yet visited arc Gar Misch i encourage you to do so. The people Are the greatest and Bavaria is Wun Derbar thanks again. A tech. Sgt. Dear Ann Landers my parents divorced 14 years ago and have not spoken a civil word to each other since. My Sisters and i have been struggling for years while planning holidays graduations and weddings to avoid As much conflict As possible. We Are now approaching our baby showers with the same tensions. My Mother would no sooner invite my Stepmother to her daughters baby showers than jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. My father however has made it Clear that enough time has passed since the divorce and that his wife should be included in these events regardless of my mothers feelings. Once again we Are attempting to make decisions that will please everybody. We Are exhausted from the tension and sick and tired of walking on eggs but there seems to be no Way out of this trap. Can you help Ann Landers burned out in Philadelphia dear burned in Pii Illy its the same old Story a a divorced Parent trying to inflict More pain on the a a culprit by enlisting the help of the children. Done to go for it. You Are grown now and capable of making decisions based on How you feel about your fathers wife. If you like her and would choose her As a Friend include her. If not leave her off the guest list and Stop feeling that you must defend yourselves.
