Firefighters were hard pressed to keep the Blaze from spreading but the Airport remained open Norm Avery a Stapleton spokesman said. Three firefighters were treated at Denver general Hospital for dehydration and heat exhaustion and two others were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene but the fire caused no serious injuries. Smoke from the Blaze cast a pall Over metropolitan Denver and caused visibility problems on nearby interstate 70, which also remained open. There were traffic jams outside the Airport on one of Stapleton a busiest Days when travellers were returning from the Long thanksgiving weekend Holiday. The fire torched nearby Utility poles and generated so much heat that firefighters near the flames worked in 30-minute shifts. The Blaze apparently was caused by a broken valve leading into one of the 400,000-gallon-capacity storage tanks. The heat from that fire ignited the second storage tank Avery said.
