These Laws were passed to protect american women. Now in order to satisfy a few Radical feminists our More Liberal representatives Are willing to endanger the future of the Republic. Citing a new Public acceptance of women in combat the allies of now and Daco wits defense advisory committee on women in the services will attempt to throw our wives and daughters into the firing line. A ask yourselves if the exclusion Laws Are cast Down what will prevent our women from being conscripted in Large numbers for some future War Only the exclusion Laws enabled the supreme court to Block in Rostker is. Golberg the Carter administrations attempt to establish an asexual draft. Due to the double lower standards employed by the military to ascertain the Success of women military women have never been tested As combat troops. This is not an Issue As Daco wits would have you believe of some women being capable but of sufficient women being capable. Obviously both the moral implications and the Cost efficiency of women in combat must be explored in greater More objective depth than previous studies have finally if combat is so fluid if no place is Safe on the modern Battlefield does that not mandate under present Law the closing of More military occupational specialities to women please demand the upholding and enforcement of the combat exclusion Laws. Save the future of America Only women can give birth to them. A Jason j. Keyes Wiesbaden Gerthan thanks silent hero while the service members deployed to the persian Gulf were away some of us were scorned or belittled by com a ments or actions of lonely and scared family members left behind a As if we had a Choice to stay or go. Some of these actions were innocent comments some were made out of spite or even Hale. One situation still hurts me. 1 was reassigned to another unit a shortage in housing because of Stop loss meant there were very few places. No one was moving. Complicate this with local nationals weary of non Bill paying americans and you have a very bad situation Madey Yorsch by one statement. I applied or housing. I was told that it would take six months to one year for an opening for housing. 1 explained that 1 had Only j Days before my family had to vacate our current living quarters. The lady s reply Burnt me up inside. She rolled her eyes and looked at me As if i c was getting Over on someone. She said a at least you re not in saudi like my maybe she had a Point but i did t Send her husband nor did 1 ask not to go. 1 would go out of my Way to help a spouse in need liven if it was just to open a door for a ribbon wearing arms Ful in children spouse. I Felt if i could not help on the Battlefield. 1 could do even tiling possible on the Home front. 1 Here must be some sort of recognition for the silent heroes who kept your Home and families Safe the Soldier who got the phone Call at 2 . To assist a family member with an emergency the Milder who spent Long cold wet nights guarding the housing area the Mechanic who a weekends were pent in the motor Puiul fixing that car. T is to there s the computer operator who logged in All of those extra hours to ensure the spouse s Birl Dav wish or simple hello got to a deployed service member vial mail the loading details sent to make sure everything needed was loaded on that ship or plane,.the mail clerk who worked seven Days a week and All those who simply supported and kept up the Faith. G i think All that most of us ask is while you thank and Honor your obvious he Rocs done to forget about those silent heroes hidden somewhere behind All of the ceremonies and parades a simple thanks to that Soldier who did not go will help us All. Been slandered become Ali e object of jokes and raked Over the coals Long enough. The reported news comes across with a heavy slant toward liberalism. The democrats along with help from the Liberal press tried to ruin Quayle in every Way possible but failed to provide any facts that would exclude him from the vice presidential race. The Saddest part of this negative reporting is that most people believe everything they read in the newspaper or see on to. When the average american can to Tell the difference Between fact and conjecture the Media have us right w Here they want us. I. A Lance d. Mentzer Lindsey air station Germany a changing the subject did anyone hear about that million Dollar baseball player w to got upset because a fan taunted him during the game Well that fan was quickly thrown out of the stadium. Get with it people. These Ball players make too much Money to have to put up with hassles from Normal people like you and me. The fact that we work for a living and receive modest salaries does not entitle us to be rude spectators. We should behave and enjoy the Quot privilege of watching these Prima Donnas with All due respect to the troops still there i just wanted to see something not about desert storm in the letters to the editor Section even if it meant writing it myself. A David Villarreal Lindsey air station Germany disappointed Soldier As a member of a National guard my company that has served in saudi Arabia and Kuwait City from february to May 1 am disappointed in the attitudes of some National guard and Reserve members. C Ries of a tree the guard Quot ring out i letters to the editor the desert Reserve maps write to the stars and stripes that keeping them Active a is no to Cost effect Ives so they should be sent Home. They done to realize this a operation v desert storm is a practical application of that training. This is what the guard and Reserve Are All about. 1, like thousands of other guard and Reserve member Sam proud to have served my country. It strikes me though that in be heard More complaining from guard and Reserve members in 3 /2 months of an action with Low casualty figures than i heard in the 11 months 1 was in Vietnam. A a a its a shame that Only these voices will be heard and not the voices of the thousands who proudly and ably performed in desert storm. Quot a staff sgt. Ronald e. desert storm a. \ missing his grunts one of the great things in be always liked about the army in my 15 years As an infantryman is that we have a Standard for All we do. When you done to know the Standard you always have Contact with the Chain of command to ensure you know the Standard. It is because of these standards that we have the great Arriey we do. Operation desert storm proved this. \ in a proud to say you soldiers always met the Standard and had the discipline to follow orders and not question them. We accomplished our Mission Learned about ourselves and can now come Home safely to our loved ones. Id , to say thank you to the infantrymen of 2nd platoon co a 4th in 18th inf these Are the grunts i go to sleep thinking about at night and Wake up thinking of every morning. You be made me proud. You May not miss me but ill miss you. A sgt. 1st class Steve Musgrove operation desert storm Trade ins not amps having recently returned from operation desert storm i frequently read and hear about the shrinking army. One question that comes up often is a How can the army amp Quality management program someone who was Good enough to Send to the War a i would like to offer an analogy. Please remember this is a tank platoon sergeant talking not an pc Coic regional personnel Center non cominis signed officer in charge or a Pentagon spokesman. Soldiers Are a lot like cars. Most peo pie would like a Cadillac or Mercedes. Benz but Settle for a Chevy or Volkswagen. Its the same with soldiers. A Soldier might be Good enough in Garrison Short Field problems or even saudi Arabia. But will he be Good enough for the next War its like having an old opel that gels you Back and Forth to work and maybe Garmisch on the weekend. With the proper care Luck and a few repair parts it might even make it to Italy this year. But will it be ready for next years vacation if not you Trade it in. The same thing applies to soldiers. Being a med does no to mean Yem re a Lemon. You May have too Many Miles e-5 Over 10 year too Many minor problems article 15s, bad no evaluation you re the wrong body style military occupational specially or maybe the army wants to Trade you in on a belter Model higher education. Or you could be a total wreck. Just because the army does t want you anymore does no to mean you Are totally useless. At least you Are broken in used to working. And lots of people Back Home Are looking for veterans to hire. _ a sgt. 1st class . Gilbert or. Amberg Germany
