Peo pie with pos privately owned vehicles had to use one of these Days to pick their vehicles up from a holding lot. J Quot a. We thought that the Quot promised Days off were our Chain of commands Way of showing their recognition of a Job Well done. In Turkey alone there have been 23 bombings five shootings and three arsons directed against americans during the first three months of 1991 one was an assassination attempt two blocks from our Headquarters and three blocks from my apartment. So when you Start to brag about your medals and look Down on soldiers not wearing combat patches remember that my wife and 7-year-old son May have seen More a a action than you have. For you others i too would have traded places with the Guys in the Gulf where you knew who the bad Guys were and sent my family to the relative safety of Germany or the states in a heartbeat. I m sure what we accomplished in the persian Gulf War was a great feat but i think it is putting All Vietnam vets in an awkward spot. We Are constantly comparing the Gulf War to the War fought in Vietnam. These were two totally different wars fought completely differently. The iraqis practically Laid Down under the american and coalition onslaught while the vietnamese fought to the very end. The men who were in Vietnam had no political support no american backing nothing the troops in the Gulf had everything it took to win a War this letter is not meant to Knock our troops in the Gulf. What we accomplished there will live forever but let up on our Vietnam vets. They be had enough Quot overexposure Quot in their lives. We Call these people conscientious objectors. They Are peace Loving people who Don t believe in violence so we Are told. A conscientious objectors belief should be considered and respected. No one should require him her to endanger his her Lite. A person should be free to think behave and refuse Laws and rules to which he she conscientiously objects. We however have another name for these so called conscientious objectors a cowards. Conscientious objectors will not defend their country in time of need. By avoiding their fair share they Force other people to assume an unfair Burden. My question is Are the major airlines playing it Safe by giving cheaper flights to those military personnel whose flights originate in the states in a thinking about the single Soldier. Some of our single and married soldiers those of the lower rank especially also served in the persian Gulf War and had to leave on Short notice. They could not afford to go to the states and say goodbye to their families because they could not afford the air fare. Now that they re Back with their it units they still cannot afford the air fare. A. A j 1. Feel the airlines Are not going about this fairly. The soldiers stationed overseas would Benefit from these Cut prices More so than the soldiers already in the states.
