I am not seeking to take any of the credit away from the impressive accomplishments of our squadrons officers and pilots. However i do feel a grave injustice is being committed if proper credit and recognition is not extended to the some 200 maintenance operational and administrative personnel of this great Squadron predominantly the enlisted soldiers. We were Given 31/?T Days to prepare for the aircraft deployment. Every maintenance Soldier within the Squadron worked 12 to 20-hour Days. Working Well into it the night and Long after most pilots and staff officers had gone Home each Soldier worked himself to mental and physical exhaustion. Each strive to possible aircraft fault and planned for those faults that could develop in route to Iraq. On deployment Day every aircraft departed Mission capable. This was a maintenance feat All of our soldiers can be proud of for few others have met such a Challenge. However the squadrons deployment was far from Over when the aircraft departed. Virtually every remaining Soldier and All of our various vehicles equipment tools and supplies had to be propped for and moved to the theater of operation. This was primarily an enlisted task and by no Means simple to do. From the moment our assets began arriving in Iraq the support elements within the Squadron began a vigilant and never ending maintenance Effort. This has ensured our aircraft a combat readiness. Far too Many comments Are made by officers and pilots praising the ah-64?Ts ability and performance without giving credit where credit is due. We have hundreds of faithful soldiers who provide the substantial logistical Effort required to ensure their combat ability. It needs to be understood that this logistical Effort is primarily provided by the a a troopers and technicians of this Squadron not the pilots and staff offi lers. V a sgt. 1st class Robert s. Williams operation provide comfor child abuse read Ion i am very concerned regarding what i perceive to be almost hysterical overreaction on the part of individuals in military communities in the interest of preventing child abuse. The Protection of children should be our primary concern where abuse is suspected but the manner in which Many suspected abuse cases Are handled by the authorities is actually More traumatic for the child than the incident which generated the suspicion Ever could have been. Consider the .3-year-old who watches her Mother being led away by military police handcuffed because tier older sister had a Bruise on her face. Not every report of child abuse is justified yet suspected parents Are routinely read their rights and Are generally treated As criminals in front of the very impressionable very terrified eyes of their children. Many parents especially those who have already been accused of child abuse arc reluctant to allow their children on the housing area playground lest they Bruise themselves. Some parents Are so fearful in fact that they restrict their children from Normal play activities. Furthermore More than one Parent has informed me that their Young child has the Catena a if you spank me i la Tell the maps and you la go to \ child abuse must be prevented but the interests of children Are riot served by criminalizing their parents. Parents need exposure to alternatives in discipline not snap judgments regarding their competency As parents on the part of the schools the Legal system and the command. Child abuse is Best prevent cd not by Gestapo tactics but by Educa Tori. Those in authority have a responsibility to treat this complicated Issue with special care and sensitivity. A Kathryn l. As a woman i think it is wonderful than women have achieved equal rights in Many things and Are Able to Sewe proudly in the armed forces. To overcome discrimination in the military you Are considered a Soldier a not male female White Black yellow purple or Orange. I do not believe in having a separate memorial. That would be discrimination against the men who risked their lives and left their Femilic it As Well. If someone built a a mein Only memorial you would be screaming a Tonya Ballinger Darmstadt Germany a soviets in fourth world often i hear people Call the . And . A a superpowers and poor nations called a third world countries. That word a a superpowers sounds silly and petulant. If there Are any superpowers in the world they Are the . And Japan. The soviet Union gladly and Desperak Civ embraces the status of soviets probably say to the world Quot of you Are tools. If you want to Call us a a superpower go ahead we need All the help we can i done to blame them. And where Are the first second and letters to the editor third worlds i thought there was Only one world called planet Earth spinning around the Sun. 1. Soviet ambassadors talk to tie so called third world countries in a a tar rial manner and offer their help when their own people Are suffering food shortages soviets ignore that life and food Are often better in such countries than in theirs. If there arc other worlds within the Earth the soviet Union is in one of them by itself. Its called the fourth world. A Jose m. Pulido Mercado Raf upper Heyford England opposes Brady Bill in response to a Brady Bill supporter a the Constitution does indeed say a a Well regulated militia however a a militia has several meanings taken from websters encyclopedic unabridged dictionary of the English language one being a a body of men enrolled for military services and called out periodically for Drill and exercise but serving full time Only in another definition is a a body of citizen soldiers distinguished from professional the latter is the def in it Ion i was taught in school As the one our forefathers meant. The Brady Bill is not the solution. It will not Stop unlawful people from of Taining firearms. The Brady Bill does require a background Check a the purchaser of a firearm it requires Only a waiting period. If any gun control Law would prevent criminals front obtaining firearms i would be All for them. But the criminal element will continue to obtain firearms through illegal and unlawful channels As they have in the past. 1 Don t see How requiring Law abiding citizens to wait seven to 14 Days to take Possession of a firearm is going to reduce our nations murder rate or quell a the War going on All Over the United Quot v a. I have nothing against Blacks but now people Are categorized Black White asian mexican american and it is the a a other i am writing about a the american Indian. It was the american indians who were in our glorious country first. They get treated worse than any other race. Look How they Are forced to live. What would happen if other races in America were told they could Only live in a certain place its called a reservation. After All we were the ones who invaded their country and took away their land and Pride. Give them their rights. Have you Ever heard of a National american Indian College fund Are there any agencies in the of cd for the american Indian no. Also you Are no longer permitted to write in agencies not listed. I have never heard them hollering discrimination. How Many Job quotas Are they Given How Many american indians do you see up on Capitol Hill holding Down a government Job in the Senate House of representatives etc.? it would be great to see some kind of Equality for our native americans who have been put Down for hundreds of years Long before discrimination came into View for anyone else.
