Apr Permell Whitaker made what May be the last defense of his undisputed lightweight title a successful one saturday night taking a bruising 12-round decision Over former featherweight Champion Jorge Paez. Whitaker abandoning his usual stick and move style to fight Flat footed against Paez bloodied the challenger when the two clashed Heads in the sixth round and dominated much of the fight to win a unanimous decision. Whitaker though was unable to Knock the determined Paez Down and never seemed to have him in trouble in what he earlier said would be his last fight at the 135-Pound limit before moving up in weight. Paez was still throwing punches with reckless abandon in the final round including a Salvo with Whitaker draped across the ropes with his Back to the challenger prompting referee Mills Lane to deduct a Point.
