Drew Hahn a Germany griping comforts no one this letter is in response to a Comfort troops got i am sorry the writer feels that her husband and other desert storm soldiers were cheated out of entitlements received by those who served As part of operation provide Comfort pc. I am one of those who served in operation provide Comfort. The United nations formally took Over the military a humanitarian Mission of pc in mid june. From that Point on the Mission of the multinational Force was to provide the Security to the Region so that humanitarian assistance by the United nations and other organizations could continue. Was there actual combat taking place in that Region no. But there were daily missions by our forces into a hostile area. Additionally the kurdish guerrilla Force the pkg was Active in Southeastern Turkey and Northern Iraq. The bulk of the pc Force was located at Camp silo i Turkey located seven Kilometres from the iraqi Border. It started out As a Camp made up of Dusty up mediums tents. In late july air Force engineers and support personnel arrived to construct a new Camp made out of temper tents. Yes these were air conditioned or heated for colder climates. But interestingly enough these tents were sent to us from units redeploying from saudi Arabia. In fact much of our equipment was brought to us from saudi Arabia. Our Comfort in 120-degree heat was due to leaders who wanted to take care of soldiers and airmen. Alcohol was prohibited for . Forces in silo i. We did not have at amp to at silo i. Our communication with Europe or the states was dependent on whether our tac tactical lines were working properly. Email was undependable. We were allowed one ramp a rest and relaxation trip while in silo i. As far As monetary entitlements Are concerned we were try temporary duty. We did not pull in thousands of dollars while stationed in silo i. In fact All we got was $3.50 a Day for incidentals whether we needed it or not. And As far As the former wartime service shoulder sleeve insignia fws-ss1 is concerned the department of the made the decision to allow us the Opportunity to Wear our Patch just like the soldiers currently deployed to saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Our military members did an out standing Job during operations desert shield storm. So did the soldiers and airmen of operation provide Comfort. Lets not take away from our achievements by griping about perceptions of who did More and who got More. A capt. Cheryl a. A Jeffrey g. Wernz Schict Zingen Germany Garmisch clinic praised recently my family went on a trip to Garmisch for a ski week. Our older boys were to take lessons with us while our 4-year-old would stay daily at the child care Center. Everything was prepaid with no refunds. I had checked with our clinic about the needed shot records of my son and was told All was up to Date. But upon arrival and trying to place him in the Center it was discovered that he lacked a certain shot. The coordinator called the . Army health clinic in Garmisch and they said they would see him. We explained that we were late for lessons and were seen immediately. I was very pleased we had somewhere to go. But my Praise goes to the care that we received later in the week from this same clinic. My eldest son became sick during the night. He Stop coughing and was running a High fever. By 2 30 a.m., he was burning up and could not breathe. We rang the front desk and got directions to the Krank Enhaus German Hospital. When we got there we could not find any open doors. So we returned to the hotel. The next morning i took him to the clinic and received immediate care. My son was put on oxygen and the Hospital commander was brought in to examine him. He found pneumonia in one lung. He went for some medication and while letters to the editor gone his staff continued to Check on us a asking us if we needed anything. I Felt As if they really cared. When or. La whom returned he shared that he was uncomfortable with How sick my son was and that the Medicine would take 24 to 48 hours to Start to work. He suggested a shot to accompany the Medicine and within one hour the fever was broken and my son was feeling better. The medical records were copied for me and the a rays handed to me. Or. Lawhorn said he would be in All Day and to Call him if i had any concerns or problems. I cannot say thank you enough. The kindness shown was reassuring and the care excellent. A the Brejcha family Span Dahlem a Germany Plain speech on spanking in regard to the letter a slap that bad idea a i would like to congratulate the writer on her perspicacity. Indeed the natives flagrantly violate every civilized sense of decency by considering the outlawing of spanking the expulsion of evil intentions by Means of pounding on the buttocks time honoured tool of parenting thereby per viciously casting their a spanked children into the Sodom of prostitution. A those prostitutes Quot she says a most Likely come from Homes where there was no spanking discipline a not Only has her keen analysis linked the state of being and always having been a spanked with an increased penchant toward prostitution but she has also exposed the dichotomous absence of reference to prostitution in fact the failure of the anti spanking activists and by association anarchists to even consider the Issue.
