When the army put this single soldiers initiative program into action everyone was looking Forward to the changes. Although there have been several beneficial changes there a one change needed that no one seems to notice. The amount of living space that we Are entitled to is almost unbearable. Having four people in a room is just entirely too Many. The rooms that we live in Are not very Large by any comparison. With the draw Down coming along the Way that it is we would think that they could find More room to make us somewhat comfortable. There is no Way that a Soldier is allowed any privacy or room to move around freely at All. Someone really needs to take a look around and see that in a cramped area such As we have there is no Way that after a Day of work we can come a a Home and relax. I done to think that that would be too much to ask for a a Little room to breathe. A pfc. Justin a. Bolt Darmstadt Germany More for less proposal after Reading through the letters to the editor i have come upon the answer to All of americans Domestic problems. First Cut All foreign Aid regardless of intentions or effect. Take the savings and spend it on food for the homeless jobless and any other less. Pay no attention to How or Why these people Are less merely divert the Money. Then when wars erupt As a result of the instability Begotten from the United states publicly abandoning its allies and policies of the past 215 years Send our tiny and ill prepared military off to fight. Of course this will boost spending by the government As it outfits an expanding military employing More people. Now there Are fewer Lesses As More Are employed and spending. Of course the Only Cost spared those dying in a needless War will be the increased taxes resulting from increased government spending the rest of us will suffer that. A second it. Robert . Munden Bundlach Germany a no instant teachers i am writing to comment on an article titled Quot Aid urged for Job casualties of military i agreed with the majority of the article that talked about Why should veterans be the victims of their own Success. That is to say by winning the cold War they will now be separated and have no jobs to return to. I am however saddened by the statements at the end of the article when Quot senator Nunn pointed out that 60 percent of military officers have a bachelors degree while 35 percent have a masters or doctorate. The senator proposed a teacher certification program that would make it easier for military employees to work in the nations schools and this is yet another unfortunate indication of the Low esteem in which the education profession is held by some americans. Why did no the suggest that these educated military members be certified As doctors dentists lawyers pharmacists Pas or any other professional Field to assume that because you have a College degree you can teach is ludicrous. Why not assume you can litigate a Case on contractual Law or conduct an ophthalmological exam because you have a College degree to teach Well requires very specialized training and an intern program under the supervision of a master teacher before you re allowed to educate the future citizens of our country. His last statement a i can assure you that a Marine corps or army Drill sergeant knows How to maintain order and discipline compares apples and oranges. Those methods of discipline that ensure Success on the Battlefield differ vastly from those methods needed to ensure Success in the classroom. If you done to think so think Back to the one teacher you Admire and Learned the most from. Then try to imagine her him in the Turret of a Bradley urging Battle hardened veterans into combat. Now imagine a Drill instructor trying to teach the Beauty of a Robert Frost poem. A Michael w. A maj. A Weaver Darmstadt Germany changing the rules while standing in line at the movies recently an announcement was made stating that if you were under the age of 17, you could not enter the theater with an individual 17 or older unless your social Security numbers matched. I believe this stemmed from an incident the weekend before involving a group of teen agers and a couple who were in conflict because the teens were a making too much should All teens have to suffer for the acts of a few my friends and i were unable to see the movie that night because of the theater a new Rule. Granted the movie was rated a but its not As if we done to watch a rated movies at Home. Where do they expect us to go on Friday and saturday nights certainly not the . A game of fuss Ball with a third grader is not my idea of a saturday night. We could go to German teen clubs but they re not exactly in the Vicinity of the housing areas so you have to worry about transportation. Next time think twice before deciding to change a Rule that has existed longer than the City of St. Augustine Fla. A Rashida Mathis Hanau Germany a Courtesy at the theater i recently went to see the Addams family at the cafes Berchtesgaden theater. I enjoyed most of the film immensely. However several parts were interrupted by a family that decided to forgo a baby Sitter and bring their teething baby to the movie. When the baby started crying they were asked politely several times to take the child to the lobby. They refused to do so saying they had a right to see the movie. I personally do not condone taking Small children to the movies but if you decide to bring them have the common Courtesy to sit next to an exit and step out into the lobby if they act up. Also do not take offence if you Are asked to leave the theater because your child is interrupting the movie. Everyone else has the same right As you do to View an uninterrupted movie. Remember Courtesy is contagious. A first it. Jon e. Tellier Vicenza Italy considerate neighbors for the strangest reason i can to seem to avoid government quarters where my neighbors a whether its upstairs or downstairs a Are either loud inconsiderate or just downright noisy. This matter obviously a very common one is not to be looked upon As insignificant. In a sure everyone occupying government quarters knows that the Walls and floors Arentt very famous for their soundproof effects or durability. Please if you have a family living under you take into consideration that the Walls and the floors absorb an excessive amount of noise thereby giving your apartment great acoustics. Meaning every time your children or even you scream run or Bounce things the sound is amplified a great Deal. This makes your neighbor beneath you one upset individual to say the least. Seeing that there Are people in government quarters who work shifts such As myself the noise discipline would be greatly appreciated. My hat is off to respectful neighbors even though they do come along once every Blue Moon. Ill certainly be Gratful when one of those Blue Moons floats my Way. If you find yourself or your children making an excessive amount of noise please take into consideration that you do have neighbors. A sgt. Vernon l. Williams Heidelberg Germany
