It wont bring their son Back but i offer his parents my Heartfelt condolences and prayers. This letter though is about the whole Issue of bus monitors. First if you re going to have the program there must be a Monitor on every bus on every school Day. Second a Monitor can be any adult family member Soldier or department of defense civilian who can be held responsible for his or her personal conduct As Well As the safety of the children. Period. Third Given the responsibility and accountability for these children bus Monitor personnel must also be Given the authority to execute that responsibility. If the child does not cooperate when corrected and the incident is reported and confirmed then appropriate action must be taken a suspension from Riding the bus Etc. To do less would Render the bus monitors ineffective. Their presence then becomes an empty warning a and kids can spot an empty warning Clear into the next school District. Now for the other part of this Issue. Why Are bus monitors necessary anyway ill Tell you Why. Because our kids Lack discipline. Our kids Lack discipline because parents say no one else can Tell my child what to do Corporal punishment is a dirty term and of course i love my child too much for that. Also other people Are watching How i raise my child and if i raise my voice or swat my kid on the Bottom their reaction would be one of disgust and contempt. maybe they would notify the authorities that i have abused my child and they re doing their civic duty to report it. Contrary to popular belief the overwhelming majority of us Are decent Folk and would prefer to live three or four lifetimes without a child abuse investigation. So consciously or not we be adopted a Raissez Faire attitude toward disciplining our children. A capt. . Mack ludwigs Burg Germany interested in . For those of us in the military How often do we sit Back and look at our military career through the eyes of our children some of our children probably wish that their parents were civilians. I have to take my hat off to them and say you Are greatly appreciated and though your life seems pretty Tough sometimes we military parents Are proud of you. I have been a military Parent for 10 years and i can to even count How Many important events in your lives i have missed. All the plays report cards Christmas parties halloween sporting events and parents Days. Or the time you had a great Day and wait to come Home and Tell me about it but i was in the Field. The trips we had to cancel because of duty the pets you be had to leave behind your friends you had to leave not seeing your grandparents and other family members for driving in Germany the German Federal court ruling about Accident liability for Drivers travelling in excess of 130 Kilometres per hour 81 Mph does no to sound arbitrary to me. Germany has a recommended instead of posted Speed limit. Driving in excess of the recommended Speed limit has Accident liability written All Over it. In reference to the writers competent Well disciplined Drivers i have yet in my 6v2 years in Germany to see a performance oriented Driver assume a Safe following distance behind a slower vehicle in the left Lane and patiently wait for that vehicle to find an acceptable space in the right Lane. Instead in be seen impatient obnoxious and inconsiderate Drivers who assume that the entire Highway belongs to them Flash headlights tailgate weave and pass before the other vehicle clears the left Lane. I can to Call Germany a bastion of performance oriented driving. Instead a bastion of fuel wasting air polluting poor driving habits would be More appropriate. A sgt 1st class Neil a. Munson Hanau Germany a thanks Good Samaritan i was having an errand Day. Bills to pay groceries to buy and several other tedious tasks. Then i ran out of Gas on route 455, about 1 Kilometre from the Esso filling station. My son and i took a walk and i pumped 5 liners into my gasoline can. An american gentleman offered his services. I use the word a a gentleman sincerely. A warm and Friendly face who went out of his Way to help me. I did no to even ask. Not Only did he drive me Back to my car he insisted on filling it for me and waited until i drove off. To top off his consideration he followed me Back to the Esso to ensure i was All right. His response to my appreciation was it just Hope some i helps my wife if she a Ever in i did no to even get letters to the editor his name. So thank you sir for your help on March 30. Thank you for renewing my Faith in the Wiesbaden Community. I Hope everyone Reading this repays your kindness by helping a fellow american in need. I know i will. A Stacey Catigano Wiesbaden Germany let a help one another so the president wants to put More Money into the former soviet Union. The meaning is Good they Are in desperate need. However underneath the canopy of big business and supposed economic recovery does anyone see the masses in our own country in desperate need our government wants to take care of everyone but our own. Now i hear of two states allowing welfare for Only six months because they can t afford any More. Does anyone else see the growing threat of anarchy and chaos in the United states if government wont take care of us let us take care of one another. Its a big dream to think everyone would do so but its needed. Reach out a helping hand to a neighbor in need.
