We find it hard to believe that while our Community population is increasing a Altce foreign language training Center Europe will be moving Here a our services Are decreasing. Last summer it was the child development Center cd which did remain open and now our clinics. While our local military population is Only around 1,000, thousands of soldiers who visit the arc armed forces recreation Center hotels ski programs Campground just for kids or cd also use the clinics. You too should be concerned about this latest discontinuation of services. The nearest military medical facility is Augsburg a two hour drive on a Good Day and with that facility scheduled to reduce operations we re looking at Nurnberg Over three hours away. We have not heard of any definite plans for our services to be provided locally but we do know it will Cost us More. Dental care will be 100 percent out of pocket a what a plan that is. We were Only Given 60 Days notice of the plans to close our facilities. If you use arc Garmisch and Hope to have medical care available write to your congressperson and senator now and keep our clinics open. If not when you come to vacation Here done to spend All of your vacation Money having fun As you will need to have extra Money on hand to pay for unexpected medical expenses. A Dean Reed Garmisch German bad Kissinger hardships As a member of the Eagle horse so i feel that it is my duty to let the feelings of abandoned families of the Squadron be known. I know it is hard to believe that units do abandon service members and their families to a certain degree. My unit is now stationed in wild Flecken Germany and i and Many others now commute to work from bad Kissinger every Day even with a Cut in cola. Those of us who own pos privately owned vehicles car Pool As much As possible with no reimbursement at All. The Only consideration is the Road conditions during the Winter months. Eighty percent of the facilities in bad Kissinger Are closed with most of the rest closing by the end of april. I understand Post closures but do the members of the Chain of command have to convey an attitude of a ooh Well to the members of their command and to family members since the Chain of command lives in Wil Flecken they seem to care less about the hardships and depression that families that Are left behind and forgotten Are going through. Shuttle bus services from bad Kissinger to Wil Flecken Are being stopped. Now military dependents have no Way to get to medical and dental appointments in Wil Flecken As both clinics Here Are now closed. 1 know a lot of time and Effort went into planning the squadrons move to Wil Flecken except for what happens to those left behind. The Only Way a unit commander wants to get involved with bad Kissinger families is when he has a few problems with them. I wonder How Many times a unit commander has driven to bad Kissinger to Check on the conditions we Are faced with every Day. Staff sgt. William s. Bart Lagomarsino Dodds Deputy director states that it is important to teach students the Basic Content of what a going to be tested. The teachers Here in Munich got their test booklets five Days before the testing Date not enough time in school system director John Strempler swords to familiarize pupils with test material. He thinks its Only common sense not to sneak up on kids with stuff they Haven to covered in class. But we need to teach our children the Basic skills and subject matter All year Long not just for a test that is costly and considered to be Only one criterion for evaluating a school. In 1991, the test scores for some classes in our school were lost Between Munich and Mcgraw Hill. Surely there must be a Way to obtain duplicate test results for distribution to parents and teachers. Bart Lagomarsino states that the cubs needs to be locked up tightly until the Day they Are administered. I cannot think of a More impartial idea for everyone involved a Anne Young Munich German incentive plans harmful the special separation Benefit and voluntary separation incentive were a poorly thought out plan that did nothing More than cripple an air Force already Hurt by Congress dwindling defense spending. By offering airmen in so called a Over manned career Fields a few dollars in Exchange for leaving the military Congress not Only has wasted our defense dollars on those who would have left anyway but also has lured out Many of our top Quality performers. The application period for the sir Vii Early release programs has come to a close. When the statistics Are tallied up we will have lost a substantial percentage of our professional career airmen to a faulty reduction plan. We will All have an even tougher task of maintaining the Superior air Power we proved to the world last year in the Gulf. The Point is not to fault Congress in its shortcomings but to urge those of you who give the air Force 110 percent letters to the editor and More daily to stick with it at a time when your knowledge skills and dedication Are needed More than Ever. A tech. Sgt. John c. Goble Raf upper Heyford England car sales defended As a former employee of the Auto Exchange in Mannheim i feel inclined to comment on the recent articles in the stars and stripes on oms overseas military sales corp of maybe the cars Are a bit cheaper in the states but you must realize that we have a limited amount of vehicles to sell Here As opposed to dealerships in 50 states where they re not Selling. Also it is a matter of convenience. Example i once had an employee from Burger King ask me a Why Are your cars More expensive Here than in the .a.?? i replied a Well i could go Home and make a whopper or cheeseburger for about 50 cents but its More convenient to pay $2 and let you do the Salesman i worked with at the Auto Exchange Mannheim never once turned away a customer that had problems with warranty work. The people we sell to Are the people we also go out with to a movie or for a Beer and that will Tell you the reputation we have. We need to make a living just like everyone else and we do so. But in the process the customer always leaves Happy. A Michael Van Clyburn Mannheim Germany Afes is overpriced with few exceptions i find cafes prices inflated in excess of 100 percent of the . Retail Price. Recently i priced a serpentine fan Belt $40 Pusan air filter $20 plus valve cover Gasket $10 plus and 10w30 Pennzoil motor Oil $1.70. Out of desperation i had relatives Purchase and Forward to me the above items not the Oil for $2.90 postage Belt $15.99 filter air$8.26 and valve cover gaskets two for $5.99. So for a Small inconvenience i saved Over 100 percent of the cafes Price by purchasing retail. My car by the Way is a 1985 Corvette and its a Good thing i purchased new tires before i shipped it. The tires i bought at fort Bragg n.c., Cost $147 retail and Are a a Vry rated. What does cafes want Check it out 100 percent plus dollars. With the threat of mar morale welfare and recreation funds being curtailed where does the 100 percent plus profit go does a congressperson have to be notified to initiate a review before someone realizes that cafes is helping to Send some service members to the poor House .
