This poor baby was born with Only a brain Stem and did not have a Skull. What brain she did have was Only keeping her organs functioning. What kind of life is that no Parent wants to see his or her child suffer. Why prolong the child a life she would have never had a Normal one had she lived. Laura Campo and Justin Pearson were not praying to god. They loved their daughter with All their hearts. So much they did not want her to suffer. So much they were willing to let her go to give other newborns a Chance at life. This is not a unspeakable 1 Call it love. A Christina Stephens Crail sheim Germany a a a abortion ugly business recent articles in the stars and stripes a for example a abortion activists rally in san Francisco Quot april 6 a have concerned me enough to finally write this letter. I am wondering Why it is that when any number of people gather to celebrate the right to have an abortion it is a newsworthy event. I have never read an article in your newspaper that portrays an anti abortion rally in As positive a Light. And yet according to a recent poll most americans favor severely restricting the right to obtain abortions. Literally hundreds of thousands of americans Are protesting against abortion by participation in life chains a non violent form of protest yet i never read about these protests in your newspaper. For example on oct. 6, 1991, 771,000 people in 350 american cities participated in a National Day of life chains. In my opinion that was a newsworthy event and yet it was virtually ignored by the press. Editors note the stars and stripes ran a 7-Inch Story at the top of Page 6 on oct. 8. Abortion is an ugly business and no one but those with financial interests in it seriously attempts to defend it. Groups like planned parenthood the National organization for women and the National abortion rights action league stand to lose a lot of Money if abortions Are restricted or outlawed. So do Many politicians who receive a lot of financial support from these groups so Long As they oppose any restrictions on abortion. Perhaps if we taught our children to practice self control instead of self gratification the need for abortions would disappear. Until then i will do All i can to make abortion illegal once again. Who defines which firearms Are either appropriate or inappropriate for sporting use an ak-47 has just As much a place on a Deer stand As any other Rifle of the same Caliper by virtue of its stopping Power. Granted it is much tougher to mow Down people with a Bolt action .30-06, but on the other hand that same Rifle in the hands of a skilled criminal Lunatic has the same murderous potential with the added possibility of even More far reaching results i.e., a fkr a assassination. Guns do not kill people booze does not kill people knives do not kill people and Bridges used by suicidal people do not kill either. People pulling the trigger people tipping the bottle and people wielding the Blade kill people. The instruments chosen for weapons have neither intent nor conscience nor a sense of responsibility. They Are Mere inanimate objects that lie around waiting for the a Superior species to come along and utilize them. A John Velasquez Ochoa Nas Simonella Sicily a unprofessional handling on March 26, a piece of world War ii ammunition was found by a group of children in my neighbourhood. They ranged from Ages 7 through 10 years and did not know what they had found. Understandably they started to play with it and it exploded. Ail three were hospitalized two in serious condition. The Point that i am trying to make is that the whole matter was handled very haphazardly and a professionally. It Wasny to until March 31 that the army my bomb dogs came and cleared the area including the playground adjoining the bus Stop where the ammunition was found. This bus Stop is used by All the kids in the immediate area. A whole weekend passed Between the time that the explosion occurred and the bomb dogs came through. The very next Day . Army engineers came with Metal detectors and cleared the Forest and the playground in the surrounding area. Five Days passed with no action taken by the Community. I believe that something should have been done before then. The safety of our lives and our kids lives should have been Paramount. This letter is to show my concern on a matter that could occur again. Next time it could be a whole lot worse. A Brent b.
