Pat Schroeder d-colo., write a letter to the editor of our a a Hometown stars and stripes newspaper is As nauseating As having Jane Fonda address a vow convention. This self professed expert on troop Levels in Europe and lesbianism now lectures divorced military members on the proper disposition of military pensions. We who actually serve in the military have deep and abiding appreciation for the unselfish contributions of our spouses and commanders make great Effort to recognize those contributions. At retirement ceremonies spouses Are Given a retirement certificate along with the military member and recognized equally for their service. Divorce is an unfortunate part of life but each Case is unique and should be settled As such in a court of Law. The merits of the spouses contributions to the career should be addressed and certainly compensated if deserved but should also be subject to renegotiation if circumstances warrant. If i remember right there Are always a two sides to every Schroeder Sall or nothing approach is obviously biased male retirements Are most affected and shows her True colors. Its not a crime to be a Man in the military. Perhaps she would better serve the country if she gave As much zealous scrutiny to congressional pensions pay raises and Bank accounts. When the Call comes to throw the rascals out by All Means done to forget this one. A chief master sgt. Eric Benkin shape Belgium a Carload of trouble my problem is similar to the Many Auto complaints you have printed. In september 1990, my new Auto arrived after Many delays. It was a Ford Tempo and i was glad it finally came. Aside from the delay and excuses the car ran Well. Then on april 4, i had to have adar the German automobile club Tow me to the cafes garage in Frankfurt. After determining that the starter was shot cafes told me i needed a new one. I called the parts store and asked if it had a starter. The answer was no special order. I then asked if i could get the part number. The response was a fall Tempo starters Are the i called my son in . And asked him to Send me a starter for a 1990 Ford Tempo 2.3 engine. The starter arrived and i delivered it to cafes which told me it did no to fit. I complained about the bad information and was Given another set of numbers. Then i was told cafes had a starter in the store. Again my Hopes were lifted Only to find out it was not the right one. I called my son who told me to Send the old starter. Cafes said that was not necessary and gave me new numbers. I sent these and nothing happened. My son called and told me again that he needed the old starter As there were two or three Tempo starters and the supplier needed the original. I sent it to him and he had it rebuilt. It works. It has Cost me 1,000 Marks for a rental car plus the Federal express for three packages. It has ticked me off no end that no one knows what is going on and what really gets me is we were told that cafes services what it Sells. Why did Ford not have the part somewhere in Germany Why is cafes allowed to sell what it does not have parts for or Why does it allow Ford to sell autos for which it does not carry the main parts i was under the impression that i had a certain amount of warranty for some parts. Does the 50,000-mile warranty hold for starters Why Wasny to this information in my Booklet i have looked everywhere. Why done to the a on High people at the Dallas Headquarters of cafes do More for the poor suckers who Are lied to defrauded and picked on Over Here poor Harry Truman he should be Here a maybe we could get the Buck stopped Here. -r.w. But at least she received one lamp and two shades. A package mailed to me from Elpaso Texas last november has yet to arrive. The last place it was seen was new York. It apparently disappeared into the Black Hole known As a Apo and guess what it was the one time the sender opted not to insure a parcel. In be had numerous occasions where mail correctly addressed to me with the new four line format has been mysteriously returned to the sender or worse ended up in the Apo a abyss never to be seen again. I used to think i was the Only one having problems with the new mail system but after months of Reading about similar problems in the stars and stripes i find in a in Good company. We should organize a Lynch mob and hang those responsible for this mess. The person who first thought this whole thing up should be the first to be Strung up. Or better yet get them All and stamp Apo a on their foreheads then dump them into the mail system and see what happens. The chances Are Good that they will disappear from the face of the Earth. A Joseph a. Fernandez Wiesbaden Germany ?. Crippled by riots i he police officers who viciously beat Rodney g. King were dead wrong. I heir acquittal by a nearly All White jury can Only cause people to shake their Heads in disgust. But the violent response to the verdict was not the right answer. The Correct response would have been peaceful demonstrations. Nothing can justify the Days of rage and mindless violence which raped Southern California and other parts of the nation. Because of the violence the second largest City in America will suffer for years. . Was in the process of pulling out of the recession. The recovery if it comes will be delayed for a Long time. Thousands of jobs will disappear especially jobs at the lower end of the scale ones usually held by minorities. The areas hardest hit by the riots were areas where Many Black people live. What were once merely slums Are now Urban wastelands. Who will risk building there again or resuming a business venture korean Black relations never Good to begin with will probably never improve. Visions of Whites hispanics and asians being beaten in the streets because of their ethnic backgrounds will linger Long after the fires have been put out. Nothing any armchair sociologist can say will even defend what the world saw in . The United states is an unjust country in Many ways and it Isnit easy for some minority members to get ahead. That simply Means that the United states Isnit very different from most other countries. If Black people want to improve their lives they certainly Arentt going to do it with murder and mayhem. A Thomas Park Frankfurt Germany gun arguments illogical this is in response to a recent letter that made an analogy Between air conditioners and handguns in reference to causes of death. Handgun advocates frequently have to resort to illogical arguments to defend the use of handguns. Yes our founding fathers stated in the Constitution that we have the right to Bear arms. Do you think that they would have granted every american the god Given right to drink themselves into oblivion and then drive a car cars did not exist then neither did the widespread misuse of handguns. If gangs and High school shootings had existed then do you think these great thinkers would have said give everyone a gun i done to believe americans have to Deal with the threat of being overrun by some huge subversive group where we would All have to take to the Hills and protect ourselves. I done to think the likelihood of having a communist pry your cold dead fingers away from your gun is in the near or possible future. This is the ?T90s, and communism is in intensive care. What is the percentage of people who Are mugged or robbed and actually have a gun to a make a Day for themselves handgun restrictions would make it harder on the criminal than the honest citizen.
