Earnhardt had the Lead on the restart at Lap 173 but a passed by Jarrett in the third turn of Lap 177. Two laps later Earnhardt retook the Lead at the Start finish line with Gordon on his Tail. Two laps from the finish Jarrett passed Gordon for second place putting him in position to pass Earnhardt. The two cars touched off the fourth turn heading toward the White Flag and Jar rett was Able to pass Earnhardt and hold on for the biggest Victory of his career.
