In the current Issue of the morbidity and mortality weekly report the centers said that 51 drug addicts reported buying Needles at pharmacies from August to october after the state changed Laws to allow the Purchase of up to 10 Needles at a time without a prescription. In questionnaires filled out by 124 drug users fewer addicts also reported buying Needles on the Street in the same period 73, compared with 92 in june. But most 59 percent still bought on the Street compared with 41 percent at pharmacies the report said. Needles sold on the Street Are not always new or sterilized. Ten states including new York and the District of Columbia prohibit the Sale of hypodermic Needles without a prescription. Connecticut changed its Laws last july to allow both the Purchase and Possession of Needles in an Effort to help addicts avoid Needles contaminated with his the virus that causes aids.
