Teen Ager wins berth on German All Star eleven  staff writer Stuttgart Germany the quiet speaking 6-foot, 260-Pound High school senior said he does t like to hit except on the football Field. Aggressive defensive play has earned Steven Yauger of the Stuttgart military Community a berth on a German league youth All Star football team. Yauger who plays nose tackle and offensive tackle for the Stuttgart stallions a German youth league team impressed National football league International organizers when they scouted the fledgling league last Spring to form two All Star German squads. Yauger a 17-year-old senior at Patch High school and the son of sgt. 1st class Kelly Smith and Sylvia Smith was name to the South team and is the Only Ameri can selected for the All Star game. He was a big kid a Good Tacker andean aggressive player said Marshall Harper events coordinator for nil International. Nil coaches and league officials spent four months scouting the German teams to find the players. The nil representatives were sur prised when they discovered Yauger was an american. They originally wanted Al germans on the All Star team but they changed their mind when they saw Yauger perform. The North South All Star game will replayed 1 . Aug. 7 on the Maifield a sports area just outside Berlin s olympic stadium where the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills will meet in an Ameri can bowl game that evening at 7 . Being from Austin minn., has give the All Star game a special significance for Yauger who said he Hopes to meet some of the players from his favorite team the Vikings during the week be fore the game when the youth and professional teams will be practising. He Yauger has an abundance of potential said John English one of the Young stallions coaches. He s got the strength and quickness. The biggest thing is his heart. You have different Levels of com petition that you have to get used  headed that the bigger Challenge however is picking out the right  English suggested that Yauger play inthe German youth league. The German teenagers were still learning the fundamentals of their relatively new sport out of 19 kids 10 of them had Neverseen a football game English said. It was kind of frustrating for Steve because he was used to a higher level of Competition English added. English said however that Yauger often motivated the players to be More aggressive and execute plays effectively or face getting run Over by the 260 Pounder. If the team had a Good play it go their Confidence up but if they had a bad play it was hard to get them pumped up again Yauger said. My first week with the raiders i beat that  despite All the fun and games or maybe because fit the raiders won three super bowls and fielded one powerhouse club after another. Chandler believes it was partially because of the fun and games. I thought All these Guys were crazy when i first Gothere he said. Both teams were to hold a two hour practice on wednesday including an hour Long Light scrimmage in which the two clubs will face each other. Sunday s san Francisco Pittsburg game is one of four in a week s Span in the american bowl series three of which Are being played in Europe. Also on sunday the Philadelphia eagles play the new Orleans saints in Tokyo on aug. 7 the Buffalo Bills face the Minnesota Vikings in Berlin and on aug. 8 the super bowl Champion Dallas cowboys Are up against the Detroit lion sin London. Between 30,000 and 40,000 people Are expected for sunday s game. Barcelona is Spain s hotbed for american football. The City is the Home of the world league of american football s Barcelona dragons which was probably the world league s Best franchise until the league suspended play after last season
