Theirs is one of the Best school systems in the state a successful combination of innovative programs and total Community commitment that has earned top National honors. Everyone is in on the act local businesses sponsor students students respond to teachers teachers communicate with parents parents incorporate education at Home. They can t quite believe a reporter from new York is hanging out in tiny St. Marys to hear what s of their minds. No sirens or Bells or big Story. This stuff they Are talking about is simply close to their hearts. I remember when Nixon referred to the great silent majority. Well it s True that for whatever reason mainstream America is one of the least vocal sectors says Larry gainer an administrative assistant. Sometimes maybe we feel the problems Are so Large that we can t do anything. One thing we can do though whether in a Rural town or on 10 blocks in a City we can take one Patch and make a  sounds easy but Faith is sometimes hard to come by. If More and More americans come Forward and join together to form Active communities. We will have Many More ways to make our society a place in which individual rights Are vigilantly maintained while the seedbeds of civic virtue Are patiently  monday january 31,1994 the stars and stripes 27
