Community undercut. I am shocked and appalled that army and air Force Exchange service fired for Mer Derheim Germany concessionaire Thalia Smith. How difficult could it have been for cafes management to counsel Smith and inform her of proper procedures and policy it would seem that cafes was More concerned with the Glamour of i spy and to catch a thief rather than provide desperately needed service to the Mili tary Community. The article aug. 24 stated that Smith was informed by the Exchange service that the theft of cafes funds was in the form of her promotional offer to customers to buy three haircuts get one i fail to see the stealth deception or secrecy in her actions. A hidden video camera 800 hours of videotape nowhere s plenty of stealth deception and secrecy. Get off it cafes. The article further stated that she occasionally Giveaway free haircuts As prizes in Community tuna raising events. My question is what did cafes do for the Community by closing Down the Concession if anyone was robbed it was the Community Smith and her employees the moment cafes shut them Down. I m not saying what Smith did was right. However was firing her the answer was the Justice of the Community served did the end result justify the Means disagree strongly. This is a Clear example of the Lack of common sense and leadership on the part of cafes. Once again we see management Cut off their nose to spite their face and who suffers we do i m stationed in bad sibling in Southern Bavaria i m an african american and at pre sent we desperately need a Barber hair stylist who can Cut our Type of hair. The one Barber we have does a Good Job but she is overworked with customers. Naturally being in the military we constantly have inspections ceremonies and special events to attend. Command ers do not accept not having a Barber who can Cut our hair As an excuse. That Means unfortunately for some of us a hour and a half trek to Augsburg to hopefully get in line fora decent trim. My suggestion to cafes As if the really care is to rehire Smith and her employees if they will forgive you give them a raise and ask them to come Toad sibling. They will receive a warm Welcome plenty of customers and we a gladly pay for our haircuts. Petty officer 1st class Reginald a. Robinson bad sibling Germany ability to inflict discomfort or pain the same flank strap argument applies to the writer of horses Aren t he says that when the strap is put on not every horse will not every human being mistreated will fight Back either. Whf does he suppose me word used is broken his argument that if caught releasing your rope up and Down you will receive a penalty or disqualification Only serves to prove the Point that it 1 i dangerous enough to Merit a penalty and 2 happens otherwise no Rule is needed against it. However i wholeheartedly agree with him that horse jumping is justas dangerous As Rodeo. It is just As cruel. The same goes for horse racing. As described by the writer the owners of the horses who take care of them in order to ensure Long life and Good healthcare just protecting their investment. It says nothing about the Quality of life. Human prisoners Are ensured healthcare meals and shelter. And they actually did something wrong. Horses Are among the most abused and mistreated animals on Earth. The animal mutilations in Aurora colo., arouse the same disgust. Hopefully the individuals responsible will be caught but unfortunately there will Al ways be More sick people to take their place. Finally concerning the recent Art cles a Botthoe killer elephant i am absolutely convinced that the animal had been mistreated for Many years All of this is heartbreaking since animals can not speak for themselves and Are completely at our mercy. Many thanks to the animal rights activists and organizations around the world. They have Given me a Way to get involve Din relieving and preventing further Ani Mal abuse. And i too intend to Boycott the sponsors of the Rodeo. J _ 3 _ Ursula Marquardt 7 Hamburg Germany theater eating Crow / saturday aug. 20, 1994, it was on the marquee that the arc would be playing at 1700. This was on the marquee for one week my Een by a lot of people. About,25 or More people stood in front of the Skyline theater at 1700. No movie. This was false advertising. Because i was on a very tight schedule due to the last showing of the play at the Keller theater at 1930 that evening i was unable to attend the later movie at 1900. Now the Crow also played on tues Day 23 aug., but 1 was at a meeting. The people working at the theater were very courteous trying to explain the mistake but it still makes me mad. Louise Dost Giessen Germany cruelty to animals in my opinion the men who in rodeos Are perverted. They must know exactly what they do to the animals in order to gain the reaction they want. Wish for once that it could be the other Way around. As for Rodeo is a skill aug. 28it is because of people like Hertha Rodeo has not gone the Way of the cattle drive and town Square hangings. Of course she probably believes the rodeos of today Are still about bragging rights,.and hot at All about prize and sponsorship Money. Does the fact that the flank strap is Cotton and not leather negate the fact that it is needed at All what skill is required to cause a horse Al ready broken to Buck other than the tender Loving care in response to rodeos abuse Ani Mals aug. 23i do believe this Personis quite ignorant of the rules that govern Stock abuse Here at our overseas rodeos. Tarn an Active member of the Rodeo association and have never once seen our livestock abused. If this were to happen the person responsible would be heavily fined and perhaps permanently banned from participating in future rodeos. Rodeo Usa has been in business for Al most a Quarter of a Century. That should Tell you something for if Pur animals were being abused our Host nation Wouldhave shut us Down Long ago. By the Way the calf roping done Over Here is break away which Means that the rope is tied to the Saddle Horn with Kite string. Once the calf is roped and the Slack runs out the rope simply Breaks away from the Saddle and the calf is free to continue running. Being a Cowboy i about taking care of animals not abusing them. The writer also made a statement that the rodeos portray arrogance greed and ignorance. Well this to me sounds As if a statement is being made against the cowboys who compete out there. I can Tell you one thing you will never meet a More dedicated professional courteous caring or kind person in the world Tharra Rodeo Cowboy. John Bingham Dex him Germany a fan of Faulkner s Iii response to " Knob or nothing aug.17shannon Faulkner had no objection to the Knob haircut that the Citadel re quires of its freshman cadets. She and he lawyers also had no objection to the physical training or her being housed one might even say isolated in a room in the school s infirmary. It is the . Justice department that objects to the haircut. Though if what the writer says is True then i believe the Justice department should also object to the. Brutal harassment that is also part of the freshman year. Such harassment does not belong inane school much less in a school that receives Public support. Which when one gets Down to Bra stacks is really All Faulkner wants. She wants admission to a College that her tax Money her parents tax Money and the tax Money of other female state taxpayers help support. Faulkner is obviously a determined fear less and courageous person who is Notafraid to fight for what she believes is right. These Are the same qualities that we Al have found in past and present leaders and Hope to continue to find in Pur future Lead ers. Surely the Tadel looks for the same qualities in its cadets. A military institution with the Citadel s reputation could not have survived for this Long if it simply believed that closely cropped hair and humiliation made leaders. As for the officer s re Marks about Mary Baldwin College and it military program i found them contemptible and t beneath an officer in the Tunit estates t Jane m. Newbold.
