Rensis threat is the latest skirmish Over a 1992 Law that is considered one of the toughest in the nation for franchisers the Law restricts the ability of franchisers to cancel of refuse to renew contracts and restricts the granting of new franchises that compete with existing ones. Iowa has 102 Mcdonald s restaurants with 90 of them owned by franchise hold ers and the remainder by the company. Although the franchise contracts Typ  for 20 years Rensi said that the company will refuse to renew a contract for tyo Des Moines restaurants this de Cember and that other contracts expiring next year will be allowed to lapse. The Iowa Law survived a repeal at tempt this year led by More than 100 franchising companies including Mcdonald s. The Law was sought by franchise holders from other businesses who claimed they were Beiring manipulated by franchisers. Many staffers at both newspapers were expected to Stop working and join hastily called picket lines. The safety administration asked pm to recall the trucks voluntarily in april 1993, but the automaker declined.
