Please Recycle a a a it s a private matter in response to a breast feeding Normal nov. 14it seems that otherwise modest people who dream of exposing their bodies while engaged in other a a Normal functions such As bathing or eliminating feel that because they have a baby attached its of to Bare the breast. I have been in the company of Many Many fellow women who were Able to accomplish breast feeding discreetly. They were without exception kind and thoughtful people who respected the feelings of others enough not to make them uncomfortable. They would not think of exposing themselves to strangers. It should be a matter of common Courtesy rather than rules. I Salute the staff of the Bowling Alley that had the courage to speak up on behalf of the other patrons when common Courtesy did not prevail. The a a done to like it done to watch approach is Fine when in the privacy of your own Home but it does not hold water in a Public facility As open As a Bowling Alley. Maybe an alternative might be a room or area set aside for breast feeding mothers to use. R while breast feeding is certainly not disgusting some of us would prefer that this experience remain private. Carolyn brawn Mannheim Germany it seems they took justifiable precautions before firing. I am sorry their mistake was paid for by the lives of . Soldiers. Regardless of whether their actions Are right or wrong they will be punished the rest of their lives with the guilt of killing Friendly soldiers. I believe that is a tremendous punishment for anyone. Staff sgt. J. Brookhart Sharmel sheikh Egypt pilots punished enough i have read several articles in the stars and stripes concerning the Downing of the two army uh-60s Over Iraq. It is not for me to decide if the air Force f-15 pilots Are guilty or innocent but i certainly believe their actions were based on Good intentions. I have never flown in an f-15, but i am sure visual recognition is difficult at High Speed regardless of the distance. Anyone who has been in their position knows those decisions Are hard to make. The . Government signed on with the other signatories of the Hague convention. This Means that the . Government accepted the treaty and integrated the rules of the convention into its Federal Legal system. Commentary 3 Mexico s now president deserves our help by the Washington Post Mexico is going through a political revolution led from the top. Both the president who stepped Down and his sue Cessor who took office thursday Are committed reformers determined not Only to give their country a modern Economy but to replace its authoritarian one party regime with genuine democracy. The great question is what happens As Progress toward democracy erodes the discipline and Power of the governing party that has been the instrument of change in the hands of the former president Carlos Salinas de Gortari. The new president Ernesto Zedillo is among other things a Man of great physical courage. He replaced the party a first nominee after his assassination last March under circumstances still not adequately explained. The Secretary general of the governing party the institutional revolutionary party privas similarly assassinated in september. The dead Many a brother until last week Deputy attorney general has accused other leaders of the Pri of obstructing the investigation into that shooting. While not much else is Clear in this Cloud of accusation and scandal its evident that a tremendous struggle is under Way for control a of the party and through it Mexico a future. The idea of opening up the political system and leaving Basic decisions to democratic processes is a direct threat to Many of the party a leaders those who Are fighting the modernizes and reformers. There Are links Between some of these people and the drug traffickers who Are a major Force in this fight. The september killing seems clearly to be linked to a drug Cartel a it was apparently intended As a warning to the Pri to Back off a and perhaps the March killing was similarly related to drugs. Zedillo a primary task and the one on which everything else in his presidency depends is to strengthen and support the people and institutions in his country that Are pushing for open elections open markets and the defeat of the drug Barons. A a a a he has a lot of allies especially in Mexico a rapidly growing Middle class but like Salinas Zedillo will have to exercise uncommonly Brave and decisive leadership. _ the United states has the most imperative kind of reason to help him. His Success will bring Large benefits to this Side of the Border just As failure would mean serious trouble to both countries. American action against illegal mexican immigrants will have to be conducted with More care and skill than californians proposition 187 offers. One of the United states great contributions will be a Strong and growing Economy at Home lifting the mexican Economy that is now closely tied to it. As Zedillo starts his term the United states foreign policy concern More urgent or profoundly consequential than his steady Progress in the transformation of his country.
