Majors Roger m. Herrick,32nd composite Wing Intelli gence officer William c. Nut Ting Kadena Provost marshal and Hodger l. Howard 23rdreconnaissance Squadron executive officer accompanied by fire chief j. L. Thomas an two enlisted men collectively inspected the 32nd composite Wing Headquarters first air division Headquarters and the 32nd food service Squadron area for possible fire hazards. Office. This Section immediately began evaluating reports and making inspections of the damaged areas. Troops of the 514th Engineer battalion were construction immediately placed on the construction of the women compound rcom Headquarters area Fili Pino compound and rcom Headquarters area. The remainder of these troops were made available to the Post Engineer sections for emergency repairs to the ten Gan water system and sewer installations. The rec immediately went to work re pairing dependent quarters in the aware area and securing them against further damage. In addition this unit salvaged and repaired buildings in the aware dependent school area. At the same time other forces available to the Post Engineer were engaged in Clearing up the electrical distribution system in rcom re pairing the damage done to the Reefer Bank at Tengan damage to dependent quarters in Buck Nerville and military govern ment the Engineer depots and other areas. A Supply proce Dure was immediately set up eliminating All red tape so that All units applying would be Able to draw materials to re pair typhoon damage in Theu?1 areas. Later in the week the 87th aaa furnished a 200-Man de Tail to 226th ordnance to Clear away debris in the shop areas. At the present time a great majority of the damage caused by typhoon Libby has been corrected and Only minor scars remain to show the passage of the typhoon.
