It has gone beyond invitations to the americans to attend certain French functions. In Short the matter of Community relations has become a two Way Street. The French people around Toul Ros Eros have come to appreciate american families on base for what they represent rather than for what they can do said the offi cer. So Many instances of kindness and understanding on the part of both have been revealed so close has become the relationship Between French and Ameri cans that nothing can mar  it All goes Back to the first residents on the base who made up their minds More than four years ago that since they lived in a French Community it was up to them to reach their neighbors and get to know them. The French communities in and around Toul Ros Leres responded immediately. The result has been a Bond of under standing which has made the base out standing in the Community relations Field. The Toul Rosie res dependent school needed a teacher in French twice a week. A student in Nancy Many Miles away Learned of this and offered her services. We regret very much but there Are no funds available to provide for a French teacher she was told in effect. Miss Claude Geremy smiled then volunteered to teach the pupils free. She would make the trip from Nancy twice a week to do so. For her unstinting efforts miss gue Remyias called to Paris and awarded the Silver medal of the military order of foreign wars by american ambassador Amor Houghton in the american Church on oct. 1. One Day the Toul air base officers club needed a dance band. The band of the French 15th rag from Toul aviation engr Reg provided the music free and did the same thing time and time again on other occasions. The monthly Wing Parade was All setup at the base some time ago and an american band scheduled for the event could not keep its commitment. An Airlift was arranged so that the 1st French air Region band from Dijon could appear and carry on during a ceremony which was strange to  recently during the Aya carnival a gymkhana race was arranged at the base because of the close association of the French automobile club of Lorraine and the . Sports car club. Preparing for such an event is no minor matter. The City of Nancy came through with hundreds of Yards of White fences while farm ers in the neighbourhood of Rosie res in Haye provided scores of Bales of Hay As guards All for  during september the base in pursuing its ground safety program required that Drivers have their headlight checked. The French gendarmerie brought their headlight testing machine to the base to help out. A few weeks ago the base planned a certain get together and invited Many French pilots from various bases to spend the weekend at Toul Rosie res. Twenty six frenchmen from St. Dizier Luxeuil and reims bases arrived by air and in cars inspecting the Floo s at the base As Well As installation and maintenance techniques. They were feted for two  saw a football game in Nancy at tended receptions at the officers club and were greatly impressed not Only with american hospitality but with the opera Tion of the powerful jets. Many Friend ships resulted and in time the american airmen will be invited to the French bases. These Are just a few of the things going on at Toul Rosie res to show the kind of relations we have with our French neighbors said the officer.
