To me Why these shows were slopped has not been clearly explained. The people of the .Are aware that morale is what gives the american Soldier added incentive. It was morale that enabled our nation to be what it is today. Now that there is peace among nations however cold morale seemingly is being neglected if i could see or hear a suitable reason Why these professional productions provided by the 7th army were brought to an end would not question the decisions of my superiors but since there is no entertainment program whatsoever to take the place of these variety shows and since they were so Well received by the servicemen in Europe i feel that they should be continued or supplemented by some other form of professional entertainment. Twas recognized that since 1952 these High Quality shows made significant contribution to the morale of the countless thou Sands of soldiers who with esd a performance. It is realized that the entertainment generated at local level by service club personnel and entertainment directors cannot duplicate the Quality shows Origi Nally provided by 7th army. How Ever Usa eur and department of army winners in the Annua Lall army entertainment contest As Well As Many Uso and gratuitous shows make extensive Tours of Germany France and Italy where they perform in service clubs and Heaters. Most of these touring units Are variety shows with a few College dramatic an choral groups and other attractions of a specialized nature. Last year there were 49 show units of this Type.
