Each historic building that has fallen beneath wreckers hammers has served to heighten the interest in preserving More of the nation s heritage. Thus the Village of old Salem today part of thriving Winston Salem n.c., a part that has remained As it was 200 years ago when it was settled by the moravian Church. As the 20th Century threatened to Wash away the Village s historic character in 1949, citizens took action and began methodically plan Ning the future to preserve the past. In a Way they have done so maintaining the Village As closely As possible to its original style. Not simply a restoration old Salem is a living thriving Village where the people work As their Peers in the City adjoining do where descendants of the original settlers continue to live go to school and worship As their ancestors did. The exhibit build Ings Are open to the Public throughout the year and the Public is invited.
