It begins with classes on the Basic Ranger operations and then proceeds to various stations for Dif Ferent types of training. Rotating from station to station each training group gradually builds on what it has Learned at the previous station. Following refresher classes on map Reading and proper use of the Compass the men embark on an individual three hour com pass course. After this they Are taught Day and night patrolling methods including instruction on the writing of patrol orders and the proper use of patrol  addition the Greasy Camou Flage stick is passed among the troops As they practice proper cover and concealment techniques. Small patrols Are formed an they quietly stalk through the forests. The patrol Leader positions changed during the patrol so that each Man gains experiences a Leader. The patrols go through areas of dense vegetation and Are constantly harassed by aggressors to make the train ing More realistic. After instruction on various rope tying techniques to Aid rap Pelling and other vertical an horizontal Mountain and Cliff climbing exercises the troops Are ready on the final Day to ascend and descend Cliffs of varying Heights. A vertical haul lifts the men tothe top of the 90-foot Cliff. Then each Man attaches a rope around his Waist and. Using it for sup port slides Down another rope tothe base of the Cliff. Beginners Advance the beginners can be found practising the rappelling technique on a lower precipice but soon they Advance to the Hig Hercliff. A Day in the Rocky training area would not be Complete with out solving the problem of getting from one Rock Peak to another. While each company took its turn going through the Ranger training the other companies were not Idle.
