These Young dancers Ages 13 to 15, take their pirouettes and leaps with All the seriousness of professionals. Twice a week and sometimes More they give up after school play for strenuous workouts in Ballet class. And it is work. Lined up against the Ballet rail they twist and Bend and dip going Over Basic movements until Muscles ache. But then the Day arrives and they Are on stage. In White tutus and Beri boned shoes they Glide seemingly effortlessly through their roles. The hours of practice have been Worth it. Just recently the troupe 43 in All gave its annual Spring recital. As in years past the evening of dance was a great Success. There was t any doubt that it would be not with Brigitte Sommer behind the scenes. Mrs. Sommer has dedicated herself to turning out polished Aya ballets in Wiesbaden for the past 16 years. I get a great Deal of pleasure in working with Young dancers she says and 1 do demand that they work. I Tell them that to be a dancer you have to suffer you have to give it Berlin born mrs. Sommer once a Solo dancer with a famous British troupe devotes every moment she can to the classes. Teaching the Little ones is both my Job and my Hobby she says. Some of my american students have real Talent. I Hope they continue dancing after they leave for the recent performance mrs. Sommer chose a fairy tale theme. Numbers ranged from sleeping Beauty to puss in the hour Long program was designed to include All the students from beginners to those with three or four years of dancing behind them. The fairy tale stories Lent themselves beautifully to besides the classes for americans mrs. Sommer also teaches German to children. Her students have performed for German american week programs and have been shown on German to.
