After the show we had reservations for dinner at the Beverly Hills club for about 100 in our group. We were in a party room upstairs. We were just getting ready to sit Down to dinner when my wife looked up at the chandeliers and said it looks like the Light is getting Gray and it does t look like cigarette  Abou i were running. I saw people at a table in our group get up. They knew something we did t. I am sure they were starting to fee the heat. The smoke got grayer and then a Manfrom the night club came in and said Okay everybody be Calm get up walk slowly toward the door and get  everybody got up and we started at a steady brisk Pace. Very Little talking. But we passed one girl who said us too late we pulled her into our group. We got to the stairs and the smoke started getting thick but it was still Gray not Black. We took one or two Steps Down the stairs an t Kep each other. When we got downstairs that s when we hit Black smoke and i mean twas heavy. A Man told us in an authoritative  s go keep moving Well make it just keep Calm keep your Heads Down an Don t  i Don t knew who the Man was but he knew what he was talking about. Finally we could see the Light and As we left the door a Man was standing there directing traffic saying. Go left go  i estimated we walked about Iso Yards in two minutes to get out. When we got out we still had not seen an the door an coming out and we figured we were just about the last ones out. Smoke was pouring out the front door. It was thick Black and i mean thick like soot. You could t see through  walked around Back and that was the first Lime i saw flames. I said. My god. I Don t believe  people Kepi lolling us everybody got out safely. Later when i Learned that a lot of people died i was stunned absolutely stunned. It was then i realized what danger we had really been in. I said a prayer to myself and thanked god that we made it out. David son said he helped hold doors open to let others  people were jamming the doors and there was such a panic i estimate there was 1.100 people in the one room i was in just jammed  one of those who died in the fire was Davidson s musical director Douglas George Herro of Canoga Park Calif Herro had worked with Davidson for 4 years an was a graduate of the University of Cali fornia at Ink Angeles. The Beverly Hills supper club in South Gate ky., is a Heap of rubble following scene of fire tragedy a Blaze that took a heavy toll of life.
