Sex Tulane age coach Dies at 81 Garland Tex. A former Tulane basketball coach Cliff Wells died at his Home of an apparent heart attack. He was 81. Wells lived in this Dallas suburb the past eight years after coaching for some 20 years in Indiana and at Tulane for 13 years. He served As the director of the Basket Ball Hall of Fame in Springfield mass., for three years and was executive director of the National association of basketball coaches for 12 years. Wells teams won 259 games in 18 sea sons at Tulane. He coached the Green wave to its All time Best records of 23-3 in 1948 and 24-4 in 1949.
