I have just come from an assignment As an admission officer at West Point and am current in latest procedures and changes. Capt. D. M. Merhar usae shape Russell Baker i did t read How to turn women on with words in the present edition of pent House forum the International journal of human relations. Just seeing it advertised on the cover made my blood boil. Articles like this spoil women. They All read this rubbish and then want to know Why you never turn them on with words the Way other men turn on women. It never occurs to them that men like to be turned on once in a while too and american magazines Are entirely to blame. Every week there Are 10 More Arti cles on the importance and the technique of turning on women but never a hint that the male might enjoy a surge of voltage just As much As the female. Not Long ago to illustrate i met a typical american woman. She had a College degree and knew More words than a Candi Date for the . In sociology but you May be sure she did not use that magnificent lexicon to turn me on. I stood there As cold As a to set in an abandoned House hoping that this woman would flick my switch with some of those High wattage words which Send the juice flowing through my wires. Words like How about it big boy or where d you get those eyes Why these particular words turn me on i cannot say. I have tried the same words on women and had no result whatever. In fact i tried them on this typical american woman with her College degree. Where d you get those eyes i inquired. Off the rack at Gimbels she replied. How about it big girl i countered. You turn me off she was a typical one Way feminine View of the situation. Her role was to be an appliance. There she was full of potential. If Man operated her correctly her current would sizzle and he would be treated to As the world turns the Price is right in fact to All the delights of which a fully turned on and adequately warmed up lady appliance is capable of providing. The notion that i might need to hear How about it big boy before feeling the slightest desire to see her version of the guiding Light never crossed her mind and so we parted As inert As an elec tric hair dryer and an electric carving knife lying unused in separate cupboards. The truth about encounters such As these is that in most cases the Man has t the least desire to turn on the woman. Unless of course he s very Young and in experienced men know that turning on women is rather like turning on the miss America pageant when there is a woman in the House. What is easy to turn on can be almost impossible to turn off. Women As we have seen accept the role of electrical appliance and thus have a natural urge to be turned on. To achieve this objective however requires them to overcome the male s natural reluctance to engage in rash undertakings to get committed to a 16-chapter engagement with pol dark Asit were. In this women Are assisted by a Compa Rable appliance envy which also exists in the male although in less highly developed form than in the female. The facts Long understood by electrical physiologists is that men enjoy being turned on just As much As women do. What s More once their cur rent is flowing their natural Wisdom Dis solves and they Are capable of trying to turn on every woman in sight As Well As the clothes dryers the chandelier the coach lamps and the Power saw. Women must face the fact that men enjoy being turned on too and master the Subtle arts required to do the Job. A $400 dress and a Brand new set of the latest dental Caps from Hollywood Are simply not enough to do the Job. Such frills can never be More than supplements to the heavy switch throwing machinery of words. Words like where d you get those eyes words like How about it big boy with the $400 gown flashing and the new dental Caps glistening in his eyes and a powerful where d you get those eyes whispered hoarsely into his ear the aver age Man will be glowing like a toaster and ready to say save the last dance for me in less time than it takes a solid state Japa Nese color to set to bring you the voice of Howard Cosell. How about it big girls c new York times attn secy admin Apo 09055 in a recent edition of the stars and stripes there appeared an error in the eligibility criteria for Entrance to West Point and . Military Academy preparatory school. The sentence read be single an not previously it should have read be a message from the commander it. Monmouth n.j., november 1976, changed the eligibility criteria from unmarried and not previously married to capt. Ronald a. Hall chief officer procurement Section Headquarters . Army military personnel Center Europe equal punishment i am not surprised after Reading about the female sailors out of uniform to find out that they were not punished. I can see now Why the Navy has so Many problems with discipline letting the world know that nothing will happen when one does wrong. How Many men wrote in response to keep those women from getting the punish ment they should have gotten How Many men were at that ceremony who took their shoes off would the circumstances have been different if it had been men that re moved their shoes i believe in equal Opportunity also but it appears that there is still quite a lot of favouritism still . Appointment with the dentist or doctor is shard and there is such wait. The Exchange runs out of things and it takes so Long to get checked out. These Are just a few of the things. All of this floored me and i thought i could make them feel better and Tell the about the place where we live. 1. We have no club Here for the service men to bring their families to eat or for relaxation. One was built but we were never allowed to open it. 2. The commissary we have is stocked from the one in Naples there have been plenty of times we Haven t had milk or bread on the shelves. 3. The Exchange is so Small that clothes for our children and ourselves must Gener ally be ordered through a Catalon. I have an 11 and 2-year-old and can t outfit either one and the school clothes just came in today. We have no to land for our kids just a few Small plastic toys and once i awhile something different. 4. In order to get to the commissary and the Exchange we can go at 11 15 . To return at 1 ., or at 1 15 To return at 3 15 There is no place to sit inside if it s too hot or cold or raining. The Only refreshments available Are sodas or what is on the shelves in the commissary and Exchange. 5. We have excellent doctors and an excellent dentist Here but if any problems come up that can t be handled with the facilities Here we must go to Naples. This involves leaving part of the family Home catching a ferry bus and air plane to get there. Although we Are reimbursed for the most part we have to have the funds Avail Able to go. I am sure that somewhere there Are families that have More to contend with than we do Here. Our biggest and Only out Side recreation is a movie House we have available to us. Maybe is a Little word but just maybe someone will be More satisfied with their surroundings after Reading this. Frances k. Porter la Maddalena Sardinia Italy european edition col. Billy e.
