Hubert m. Bragg of the 29th Supply and service co Here recently found an insect in his family tree a human Fly. While looking through a collection of newspaper clippings and papers his father had collected Over the years Bragg of Tampa fla., found his Grandfather was known As the original human  before March i would t have believed it Bragg said. I knew my Grandfather but i thought he was Only a tool Sharpener by  Bragg s father died last Spring and while the sergeant was Home putting things in order for his family he came across a 1950 obituary from the Tampa morning Tribune printed about his grand father Chester Giles Quigley. The headline read original human Fly Dies Here. Quigley had retired from show  the Tribune article said at the age of 36, Quigley made history when he scaled new York s Woolworth building then one of the tallest buildings in the world. The obituary said Quigley performed the 1917 feat without the Aid of any device. This feat brought him recognition As the first human Fly. Quigley climbed the Woolworth building and others by grasping window ledges with his Finger tips. The Tribune said newspapers heralded Quigley s climb As the greatest test of human  Bragg said he must have been a Strong Man. I knew my Grandfather had done vaudeville but i did t know much about it. I knew nothing about his being the human Fly Bragg said. After finding the clipping Bragg asked his Mother about his Grandfather s past. He apparently started climbing buildings As a result of his vaudeville act. He would offer $100 to anyone who could climb up two free swinging ropes without spinning in a Circle. No one made it. Sometime later he got the idea to Start climbing buildings although i Don t know much about that. I m hoping to find some one who might remember my Grandfather and be Able to Tell me about  Quigley had performed with both will Rogers and Buffalo Bill during his time in vaudeville Bragg said. Bragg added that the urge to climb tall buildings is not hereditary "1 have no urge to climb anything none at  her illness leads to writing Success Lunell Fletcher. Has written 2 books by Jim Coles ii staff writer Mannheim Germany is Lunell Fletcher has entered the publishing world with her first Effort in sight of  the 36-year-old georgian wife of two Bobby Fletcher of he combat equipment group Here said she has her roots in Rural fundamentalist Southern christianity. Her Book is a chronicle of her Early years and the first 16 years of her marriage. Her health has been a problem for some years Fletcher said. She now suffers from what her doctors Call an acute kidney prob Lem. According to Fletcher the medical problems she s had were god s Way of teaching her humility and showing her where he wanted her to be. The Book appeared in . Book stores in july and she said she is pleased with its Progress. I was in the states for six weeks on a promotional tour. The Book is Selling Well. I just can t believe the reaction people have had to  she said she wrote it Over a two week period in 1974 while she was in the Hospital at it. Benning a. She said she had a medical emergency one night when her vital signs dropped to Zero for a few moments and that after she was revived she Felt that god had called her to some productive work. She said that for the next 10 Days she was writing what she believed was a series of letters and it was not until they were finished that she realized it was a Book. After refinements she said she sent it to Van Tage press inc., of new York which has published it and signed her to a 15-year contract. Fletcher s time in t monopolized by writing. She is also Active at the local Day As a staff worker in Junior sports activities. She would rather stay Home especially she said since her current affliction is painful but her husband wants her to work As much As possible so the family will be debt free when they return to the states. She continues to work because god said for women to be submissive to men and to obey their wishes. Don t think i m oppressed. It s my duty to obey my Hus  said that she is the first member of her family to graduate from High school Wlinich she did by correspondence. She decided in 1968 that she could be successful As a missionary so she enrolled in Home Stead Bible College of Florida and has nearly completed a degree in theology. She said her Book is aimed at bringing people closer to god by relating to the trials of her life. Fletcher in t a one Book Flash. She has finished her second Book which is to appear next year and she is working on a third. Book Sale profits will be funnelled into the Fletcher family ministry foun Dation to support foreign missionaries and help her Nephew s country gospel music ministry she said. She will keep 10 per cent to cover travel and promotional expenses she said. Her Fame of sorts has affected her. I m a lot More positive now.
