The two top Fita archers in he tournament Doyle and a Hallnberger came into the sport on a whim and quickly became stars. Both men started in Fita Competition and since have tried Field Archery the reverse of the other army Arch , seeking a release from his engineering studies picked up the sport at the University of Florida. Shallon Berger bought a Friend s Bow cheap on a Home leave and discovered he had a flair for Archery. Doyle has competing in Archery for four years a lilt a longer than a Hallenberger. Doyle built his ability on the University of Florida team where he practice seven hours a Day. He also met coached and eventually mar ried Debbie who was on the women s team. Debbie recalls when i was Little my father taught us How to shoot arrows. Then he went Back to College and when the target broke we could t get it  the University of Florida she noticed the women s Archery team was one person Short. I went out and bought a Bow and the next week i was in a tournament. I did t finish last but i finished next to  the help of Bob she Rose to sixth in women s collegiate Archer and to 11th nationwide. Champion archers such As Darrell Pace never become household names but they thrive on peer respect and Friendship the lop National archers like the army archers in Kurppe. Know each other Well. When a Hallnberger was Back in the United stairs he said he called Pace frequently on military phones to Dis cuss Archery and communicated often with other Arch ers Shallenber Ger who is stationed in Mannheim Doyle who is stationed in Belgium and Mccomack the 1972 olym pin stationed in Oklahoma maintain a close rivalry.
