Up police chief Richard Lamunyon has tentatively approved the rehiring of 107 officers fired for participating in a sympathy walkout in support of striking firemen two weeks ago. About half of the police Force 170 offi cers was fired during the dispute. Of those 163 have applied to be reinstated six resigned and one remained unaccounted for. Lamunyon said the other officers who had applied would be considered this week and could be rehired depending on their involvement in the strike. Lamunyon said no disciplinary action would be taken against the officers other than loss of  for Days off work during the strike. A letter indicating involvement in the strike was also to be placed in the officers files. During the strike some 26 persons were hired to replace the striking officers and Lamunyon said they will remain with the department. Joseph Vertuno of Melrose Park 111., a negotiator for the National fraternal or Der of police has threatened Legal action unless All officers seeking reinstatement Are rehired.
