Because the kids Are Small we knew it would be crowded and the seats were unreserved we made a special Effort to arrive Early. We went to the fifth Row which was nearly empty and started to slide in. A Man in the Row behind us shouted those seats Are  it was Clear that whoever had taken them had not yet arrived. Rather than make a scene we moved. We then spotted several empty seats in the eighth Row but a teen Ager told us those seats were taken Loo. This time i traded a few rude remarks with the kid and my wife pulled me away. By then Many More people had entered the auditorium so we had to Settle for mediocre seats on the Side Halfway Back. I was angry for the rest of the evening. What is the proper protocol in such a situation should we have remained seated or moved unjustly deprived dear deprived it s different world today. Twenty Yean ago i would have said remain in those empty seats and ignore people who Chin squatters rights for late arrivals. When seats Are unreserved. It s first come first  today however with so Many bits run Ning Loose not to mention people who Are Uge o. Drags it s risky to tangle with strangers. Ves even in a High school auditorium. Being an e-6 in the Navy earning is .1,800 a year 5.3 limes less than their $73,600 working on the government s multimillion Dollar aircraft protecting our country in time of War and putting up with the every Day problems of being in the Navy i Don t think they have a right to Gripe. These arc the same people who capped our pay raises and gave them selves a $7,000-n-year raise. These Are the same people who say that we make More Money than our civilian counterparts. These arc the same people who take Money away from the defense spending Bill when we already have a hard Lime getting what we need to operate. I have decided that i la continue my commitment to my government and country until i hit the 20-year Mark if they Don t take away my retire Mcnol. If  people cannot handle their tiny salaries of $73,600 a year i la Volunteer to do their Job for $50.000 a year and do it Wilh a smile on my face. . Yurko Lajes Field azores College student feels cuts in Federal education Aid i would like to address an Issue that i know is affecting Many Young people this year school Grants. I have had a full Pel Grant for the last three school years because my parents can t afford to Send me to College. This year i was informed that i was completely ineligible for any Aid due to govern ment cutbacks 1 assume. I have supported myself entirely for the past year and although i work full time it s not nearly enough to cover the High Cost of University classes. I know this is happening to other Stu dents some Are withdrawing completely in peor1a air pro Ftp your daughter is stuck. You apparently did not feel it was newsworthy enough to follow up with a Story so what was the Point out of the hundreds of a photos available daily there must have been at least one More appropriate or More tasteful for the front Page. Smith s concern Formy problem she took the initiative and made All the proper arrangements Wilh the German authorities to have the car removed and therefore keep me out of trouble with the German police. Mrs. Smith s professionalism and initiative alleviated Many problems that could have encountered due to the Dis Tances involved and the number of people who had to be contacted.
