His yacht was seized by British occupation authorities after the War ended and then it was acquired by a printing firm owner. The Printer sold the yacht to Heidtmann in 1973 for 160,000 Marks $64,000. Heidtmann spent 2 million Marks $800,000 renovating the yacht but he put it up for Sale in the late 1970s after deciding he could not afford to maintain it. Heidemann currently is free pending an Appeal of his sentence in the 1983 Hitler diaries Case.
