Yes we moan groan Gripe and com Plain Aboul being Midi panics bul we know exactly what is wrong with our fan infantry support unit that requires his skills As a practical nurse in a not so while warm sterile 8-10 hour shift environment. I say too bad. When he put Ink to paper the army did not Promise him a Hospital or clinical Type Job. We need him and others like him that possess his skill in a combat Type unit. Working in a motor Pool pulling Preven Tive maintenance checks and service Pic cleaning stoves maintaining tents cots and medical equipment in a High mate of readiness is just As important As making Beds dispensing pills and taking prs a Hospital. What he is experiencing now is what All medics should experience and that is being a Soldier first and a medic second. Command sgt. Mai. Richard a Sirois Aschaffenbur Germany most of the medics in our platoon agreed with what you had to say and we thought it was great that somebody finally complained. But you did a great disservice to inc medical Field and to your fellow medics within our division. To infer that wounded soldiers would t be treated is treason to your country and its defenders. With All the problems medical is having concerning the treatment of patients we need to do our Job even better in providing first rate care. Can Daub k. Patt Rioh. Uth editor in Craf Cmor Jeffrey s. I write this letter with a new found Pride in this uniform i Wear and to express my deepest gratitude to the sol Diers of the 1st in 81st Field arty. Recently my unit c co 1st in 7lh inf Colton Baler conducted a gunnery density at Munsinger. Four soldiers and 1 made a Supply trip of 60 Kilometres to Ulm. On our return trip our truck broke Down on the autobahn. 1 did everything possible to ensure the safety of my men and anyone passing us by on a particularly dark and icy afternoon. Within 10 minutes after breaking Down an off duty member of the 1st in 81st Field arty travelling in the opposite direction stopped and made his Way across the heavy traffic to lend his assistance. He then offered me a ride Back to his unit and assured me that 1 would find the help i needed there. Immediately upon my arrival i was treated As if the Patch 1 was wearing on my left shoulder was that of the 1st in 81st Field arty. Arrangements were made for billeting and Chow in Case our slay was to be lengthy. A wrecker and the duty vehicle were dispatched and Calls were placed to Alert my unit of our situation and safety. Once we were linked up with the wrecker and the men were Safe and warm inside the duty vehicle a decision was made to Low us the the rest of the Way into Munsinger. Many people had a hand in our recovery from private to major and never once were we made to feel that anyone was inconvenienced by lending his hand to help us. All of this took place late on a Friday afternoon. Everyone in the 1st in 81st Field arty had the same response to my gratitude. They All said. We arc All in the same i quickly realized that 1 was not being recognized for the Patch i wore on my left shoulder but rather the one that i wore Over my heart. My Only Reg Rel in writing this letter is that 1 am unable to mention every one by name bul my sincere gratitude goes out to maj. Britenbach and the Many unselfish soldiers of the 1st in 81st Field arty who Lent a hand to fellow soldiers in need. Sol. Of tin m. Dear Ann Landers recently you printed letters describing retail store ripoffs by shoplifting and employee theft. Both create higher prices for the consumer. I d like to put a word in for the cheated customer. For instance you go to the grocery store and upon returning Home find you have been charged s39 for a piece of meat marked s3.90. Or you Purchase two of one item at the department store and find that you have been charged for three. Or you Stop at a sidewalk special for two hotdogs 85 cents each and two drinks 30 cents each and the clerk says "$3.20, 1 say the retailer gels ripped off leu than the customer. Been had in new York dear new York anyone rho discovers be Baa Bee charged 139 for a piece of Ami naked $3.90 and does t return to Ibe store at once Wilh Ibe meal and Ibe Register receipt is an imbecile.
