One of the biggest problems in conducting a Strong continuing program is the Lack of a suitable Range. A Silhouette Range must be 200 meters Long and about 75 meters wide to accommodate the target configurations. Forty targets Are placed at distances of 50, 100,150 and 200 meters. Targets consist of metallic silhouettes of Chic kens pigs turkeys and rams. The associations used a Range near Butzbach for Many of their shoots until about a year ago when safety considerations halted shooting there. So now Mark Swearengen both associations arc trying hard to find another facility to serve As a Home Range. They need a Range in Central Germany that meets specifications and can be used once a month for a full weekend. Gordon says he has spoken with Many Young sol Diers who arc not anxious to participate in the Hunting or div programs because of language problems. But they have expressed High interest in programs where Many other americans participate such As in a Kcal competitions and metallic Silhouette shooting.
