Derek Bel of England the Worl Champion sports car Driver blamed the race organization for a massive Accident that destroyed both the porsche 962cfactory cars and broke off the race. The winning Kouros Mercedes was followed by a porsche 956 driven by Italy s Mauro Baidi and Germany s Klaus Niedzwiedz one Lap Back. Third came the John Fizpatrick porsche 956 driven by Emilio de Willola and Fermi Valez both of Spain. The race was a disaster for the porsche factory team but Jaguar which was lying second in the world championship standings failed to capitalize on its Ger Man rival s misfortune. Along with Warwick s departure. The other Jaguar driven by America s Eddie checker also failed. Che Var was out faction in the first half hour with a Bro Ken drive Shaft. In those conditions it was impossible to Sec flags and there were no Advance warning lights of any kind. I managed to avoid one car then i had nowhere to go except straight into to Chen scar. It was All very  stuck was running second at the Lime just behind the Kouros Mercedes that eventually won the race. Mass sixth when the Accident came said you could Only see about 300 feet ahead at any time. The conditions were really atrocious. Bui i had seen some cars off the Road and i slowed Down instinctively expecting  i had slowed 1 was Able to spot the caution Flag but i still had no idea there was a Pace car out there.
